So that's a cigarette sticking out of his mouth?  I guess that's better than what it first appeared!  Frenching a giraffe made me go *Ewww!* (even if it's probably healthier than smoking! LOL!).  Heh...

It gives the term "having the wool pulled over you" a whole new meaning...

Greetings from Amsterdam … actually I am departing tomorrow for Nairobi.  Great city this Amsterdam, went to a hard rock / metal club last night.  It was a throwback to partying in my friend’s basement back in the early to mid-80’s in suburban north NJ or like some of the clubs I used to go to, except the band was from Venezuela ...  I even made a friend, an English gentleman wearing a spiked dog collar.

… took the tourist trail through the red light district.  I always thought the term red-light was some sort of figure of speech but there were actually red lights on the street.  I now have some perspective on Roxanne.

The place is bike crazy, it is actually dangerous if you are oblivious like me.  The trains, cars and bikes are all intersecting each other.  The cars are pretty easy to avoid but the bikes (including motorcycles and scooters) are unpredictable. Well, off to wander the city some more.

Really sorry I was not able to get together Dave! Today was my first "official" day not being sick in bed for about 18 days or so

Have a great trip!

I have internet access!

… visited a nonprofit bank in Nairobi that offers small business loans in a cultural context (if that makes sense).  This is a market near the bank where one of its customers runs a small retail shop.  It smells of raw sewage, rotting fruits and vegetables and burning garbage.  The smell does not leave you for a while.

From Nairobi we moved on to a “town” outside of Naivasha and stayed in a house walking distance to the school where we worked for the week.  One of the guys in our group felt they needed a couple of sheep so he went out and negotiated with the Maasai for a couple of sheep.  He had no way to get them back to them back to the school so he hired a cab.  Here is one of the sheep arriving at its new home via “taxi”:

We just left the school and took a small plane to Mara so I will have internet access for a day before heading back to Amsterdam and then home (two back to back 8 hour flights).  Here is a shot from the plane:

I have some pictures from the school that I will post but the girls are in a lot of them and I want to look at them closely after I get home before I post them.

… went cruising out on the savanna for about 2hrs in the morning and again for about 4 hrs in the afternoon into early evening.

The afternoon trip was alright, I was in the front seat of the Land Cruiser without a seatbelt on and the guys in the back were drinkin’ beers … just like high school except for the zebra, wart hogs and impala (not the car kind).  Got out to wander around little bit too … at one point the driver stopped so we could pee not far from 3 hyena.  I was the last one getting back in the truck and the driver thought itr would be amusing if he drove away … fastest I’ve run in 30 years.

A self-portrait with my cell phone … two male lions in the background:

I took this one from outside of the Land Cruiser on my cell phone:

Those trips can be made even more fun if you strap a raw steak to the back of your buddy's back while he's out of the car...

(Great pics!  How come the hyena wasn't laughing though?)
