This sounds to me like pop when pop was still great music. you know, back in my heyday. When MUSIC was MUSIC.....oops, there I go again, sounding like a grumpy old reminiscing mannie. I hear a strong XTC vibe, which cannot be a bad thing. Well done, lads.

Rimshot I really like your style. This production is so good. Love the song and mix. On my system, running it through speakers and my ATH M50's, I think the bass is too hot. Love the kick level. I think the bass is overpowering the vocals. Isn't it funny how we all hear stuff differently? All the best, Rimshot
Thanks a lot Jimmy - very nice of you. I'll take another look at that bass.

I think what I'm reading is that the bass is sitting in the low mid frequencies, to mid frequencies more so than what we would traditionally (in the modern era) expect. I'd suggest cloning the bass track, lowering the original and EQing the cloned track to enhance the lower frequencies. You could also try the trick Craig Anderton posted about a few weeks ago, transposing the cloned track down an octave and blending that deeper bass sound into the mix. Personally, I think it sounds fine the way it is, but I can understand some of these other comments regarding the bass. Regards, Dan
Cheers for the suggestions Dan

dcumpian Nice one Daryl! Drums are very present in this, which I love. Bass is right there (not sure why Kakku is missing it, it's right behind my eyes). Nice touches throughout which really keep things interesting.
Regards, Dan
I do hear the bass I just want to hear it like darker or deeper. My tunes most of them miss good bass but I do like the bass,
I will do a drum and bass mix for you Kakku :)
That would BE nice but perhaps best IF you use your talent for something else but I will try to put deep bass on my own tunes, which I have had problems with.
Ha fair enough mate

Mesh Good song Daryl and well done on all the instrumentation/performances. You mixes are very good and I love the amount of clarity you bring out. Personally, I'd like to hear the bass a bit more prominent, but doesn't take anything away from he song. Well done!! Keep up the good work and keep churning them out mate. :)
Thanks mate - you're the best. How is the studying going?
Not as well as I wanted to Daryl.....I failed the 6 hr. exam. No worries.....will have to redouble my efforts and do a better job on the next take. BTW, if you do have any need for a little noodling or soloing on a track, I'd love to contribute.....(I remember you mentioned something like this back in Dec..).
bugger :( when do you get to retake? Yes - definitely do something soon

I'm a fan of your songs and style, and this is no exception. If I should be very critical, then I could say that the kickdrum almost have to much punch. But it may be envy...

rbecker This is a very, very catchy tune. The kind that stays in your head and you hum at 2:00 in the morning. I like it a lot. A couple things: 1. I would be interested to hear this with different basses. Nothing wrong with the current version, but just to compare. 2. To build a little expectation for the listener, It might be interesting to not bring the bass in until about 35 seconds into the tune, or maybe have it play the first 15 seconds (intro), drop out, and then back in at 35. This is just a stylistic thing, not a critique. Great song!
Thanks for the compliments and suggestions - I really appreciate it. Sorry for disrupting your night's sleep :)

emeraldsoul when I see you post a new song, I run don't walk to listen to it. Great mixing chops meets catchy tunesmithery. I thought the bass was just fine but on the louder side of just fine. For an ending, I'd prefer a fade out during a chorus, but I bet you thought of that one already. As you Brits say, "brilliant." cheers, -Tom
Thanks so much Tom. I had mixed emotions on the ending. Decided on the sudden one but still not sure.

Fantastic song, Daryl! You have surpassed yourself in this mix, everything sounds so clear and fits in the mix perfectly. And as usual I'm jealous of your ability to make few sounds to sound so much. Great job, this one was really fun to hear!

DIGGIN' this one.... it's got a cool vibe to it, obviously a nod to more straight up pop format, but i like the sideways moving chord changes nice clean production i dig the drum sounds almost like a cross between something that pharrell would write, but owl city would re-imagine i can't find much i'd suggest changing, maybe if you could brighten the bass track a bit, the low end is good, just seems to need a touch of clarity cool tune, kudos

Great song.... the intro and verses remind me a bit of Supertramp in both style and studio quality. Very well produced, and great hook. Don't know if you changed the bass and drums since some of the earlier comments above, but they sound good so wouldn't change them. Regards
