Has anyone updated to Pod Farm 2.5?

I have just tried the updated Pod Farm as a plugin in X1 - the graphics are shot to pieces!
If anyone has successfully used 2.5 I'd love to know, and I think this post should act as a warning to those who use PF that there may be a problem.

    Hey Grum,
I also have Pod Farm (2.0), but didn't know they've updated it. Thanks for the warning.....I'll check out their forum and see what's going on. Strange that the graphics are causing problems.....

Right, I've cured it. I tried restoring the pc to yesterday but all that did was corrupt the standalone version as well! I then went on the Line 6 site and got this info:

    1.  Download POD Farm 2.5 (fresh download)
    2.  Uninstall existing POD Farm 2.5
    3.  Reinstall POD Farm 2.5 - Create a special directory C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins and install the plug in portion there
    4.  Make sure the directory referenced above is in your DAW's VST search path.

Well I did this (apart from uninstalling 2.5 - I had to get rid of 2.02 because of the roll-back) and all is dandy.

Don't speak too soon, the standalone version just stopped working - I could see it but I couldn't hear it.
There is a fix posted on the Line 6 site but I can only urge caution to those updating the software (sound familiar?).

Version 2.51 will probably be better.

I only got a chance to update last evening and didn't plug in my guitar. If things are as you say, worst case scenario is I'll just revert back to 2.0x. Hopefully, they'll have things sorted out soon....

I didn't know about the update. I just installed it and it seems OK for me on Win 7 64 bit. The 64 bit plugs work fine and the 32 bit ones seem OK too (using jbridge).

I never use the standalone app.

Due to the Propellerhead Record/Line 6 integration (Record has Line 6 guitar and bass modules that utilise the extra tones folks have if they have Line 6 hardware or ilok) there was some excitement that you could have the extra tones without another dongle. This excitement has been tempered by the fact that it doesn't work.
I'm sticking with 2.5 at the moment as it works with Sonar (now) but one more fail and I'll bin it.

What happens is the 64 bit and 32 bit install to the same folder. You have to re-scan your plug ins. I had the same thing happen. I added the new subfolder they install in to my plug in directory and scanned it again. Fixed the problem.

Yeah - this is pretty lame, but we can work with it ;-)

I also like the new license manager. I had real probs authorising pod farm 2 (via the monkey) when I first got it. I kept losing connections to their server and I couldn't tell if it was them or me, then one day it just "worked", so I suspect it wasn't me. (as I hadn't changed anything)

I did the same thing but a Line 6 guy on the Line 6 forum said that the installation has to go to where the original (2.02) program lives. As I let the installer do its own thing the first time and it went tits up (the plugin had messed up graphics etc) I suspect this update has been given the right to be released by the Line 6 pet chimp, or is it a monkey?

You should be able to install a VST plugin wherever you want. That doesn't make sense...

I'd guess you got PF2 thrown in with your hardware so you didn't pay for it as such. Upgrading to 2.5 costs as you haven't paid your dues! I got it for nothing as I paid to upgrade to PF2 from PF1, PF1 was a free upgrade as I paid for Gearbox VST. If you close your eyes the upgrading structure is very easy to follow.....

I also went through the same path as you did (starting with Gearbox)...

Lately I've noticed my Toneport DI-G box is not working on the right channel (no sound from the (R)speaker)...I've switched cables and did some basic tests, but no luck....I mostly use it at night so the headphones have been my go to's. Maybe it's time for a new interface....

Mesh & Grumble, maybe you can help me with this......I have Pod version 1 on my pc and I use to have version 2 (I did not get this software with my XT Live purchase) all I remember is that (I believe) Line 6 was giving away a copy of version 2 along with a free model pack (in this case for my XT live)......my memory is awful....does anyone else remember this, lol?

Okay, found out that I did get Pod Farm 2 when Line6 was giving it out (sometime last year?)...I'll pay for the upgrade.....it's worth it just so I don't have to plug in my xt live for the front end

Just for fun, I went through the presets of the xt live......what I'm really enjoying is my blonde Fender Super Champ XD...great sounds, way more natural than a sim

    Hey Gaff,
Line 6 had a special last May (around this time) to upgrade Pod Farm to 2.0 (I think it was 2.0) for something like $35 which I did. Not sure what it costs now for the upgrade.

I'm pretty happy with Pod Farm as I set everything up (getting the sound I want) in standalone before going into X1. When I used it as a plugin in 8.5, I was never happy with the tone(s) and abandoned that idea. Do you use it as a plugin in X1 and then dial up the tones? or as a standalone first? I know there's more options/flexibilty using it as a plug....but the quality of tones are much better in the standalone although you can't change any tones after the fact.

BTW, I also have a Joe Meek VC3 and love it (especially for vocals).

I haven't recorded with Pod Farm as a plug in yet.....I've had a hardware Pod 2.0 for years and I use that alot....I plan on getting the $49 upgrade this weekend....I'm still puzzled as to why I ended up with Pod Farm 2 to begin with

Mesh: The Joe Meek is alot of fun but you have to go "light" on the compression...it's pretty aggressive....sounds great on guitar and bass too

I'm really enjoying the 1176 emulation on the pro channel of X1

I've updated, works fine with 64bit Win7 and Sonar 8.5.
Have a POD x3 so it was a free upgrade for me.

Since I've just reinstalled everything I hadnt had the chance to install the 2.0 version again. So it was right on to 2.5 this time :)

Just updated with no problems at all so far. Worked as it should both in standalone and VST- mode. I also installed the license software, but it seems to run in the background. I'm running it in 32-bit with X1 Pro.

Only problem was I got no sound on first start, but unplugging the USB for five secs, selecting the UX2 in prefs, shutting down the program and restarting fixed it.

Some mixer settings were different than where I left them, output volume was set to max while the channel mixer was set to half.

I use PF a lot when recording guitars, I record as plugin on channel and record dry with effect through monitor. Gives me a lot of tweaking abilities when it comes to the sound when mixing, if I'm not pleased with the guitar sound I just open PF on the channel and tweak or change it.
