Lynn I'm late to the party, but, oh, what a blast. This reminded me of a George Martin production because it evolved so well in a short time. The mix I heard sounds pretty darn good! It's fun to see you wearing different shoes and hats!
Hi Lynn, thanks for giving this a listen and commenting yeah, what you heard was only a few days old , your not late just fashionably on time …. Sir George Martin is somebody I admire …..not to knock myself here , he probably forgot more about music and production than I will ever learn …..having said that it still don't hurt to try …..come to think of it it only hurts when I stop trying I'm glad you found something to enjoy w my music Kenny

The Band19 Interesting, just listened to the latest. It feels like an experiment at this point. There are things I could point to, but I'll defer and look forward to this new self exploration. My biggest input would be that it needs to flow better? It feels like pieces from different songs, rather than a song with transitions.
Hi Robbie , OK , if you genuinely don't like the direction of my song or where it's going I'm OK with that …... if you happen to have constrictive criticism that could point out what you think could improve my song ... by all means …don't hold back …I'm all ears ….. Yeah, it's true , in a few places it could flow better…. the way I hear this , and what I have posted are "apparently different things " in a lot of areas Kenny

Still working on it. Different kind of song, I mean - sounds good. But the mix, still to me needs work, perhaps more bottom end.

Hi Daryl, for the midi guitar I used my De Armond Starfire IV …those sounds are the choir , strings , glock and various other synth textures. the first soaring solo was a Gibson Les Paul R 8 ….yet most of the lead work was done on my Maple neck Tele …... the Les Paul shows up a lot but mostly as a supporting type of texture in the backround the clean section is mostly a full sized Hollow body Howard Roberts type of guitar ….. my Bass was a Yamaha RB ... I usually print the sounds I'm looking to record as I record them …..all of my tones are mostly hardware and pedals I might just add a touch of Perfect Space ….for glue thanks for taking the time my friend Kenny

spacealf , Yes , I'm still working on it …admittedly i did let it go for a while I have a much better mix over here that is a lot fuller w better levels …. this mix also has a much richer bottom … I'm very reluctant to post it as it is now …. I feel since I'm carving my own little genre over here I might as well get better at it before I start sharing it ... thank you for your honesty Kenny

Ya, the mix to me also sounded close, I thought I heard a chord at 2:04 I was not sure of, and later on around 3:55 not sure something there, but then again I really doubt if I comprehended it all just listening to it. In fact I know I did not. Quite a piece of work.

Kenny, this one definitely deserves some long-term love, even if it means periodically putting it on the back burner to simmer awhile. I can picture this becoming a 20-minute opus in 3 or 4 movements. I really appreciate a song that keeps changing it up and introducing new textures as it builds, and throwing in unexpected points of interest along the way. Great potential in this piece!

on the both sections that you mentioned I 'm just playing a simple minor chord w a suspended 4 th as a passing tone ….this happens to be very common harmonically as far as this mix goes ….I did put a lot of time into it , yet I feel it is only a work / evall mix ... very rarely will i use spacial effects until it's pretty close to the end of the project …that could be some time from now thank you bitflipper Kenny, this one definitely deserves some long-term love, even if it means periodically putting it on the back burner to simmer awhile. Hi Scotty , thank you for giving my music a listen on the first section of the song almost all the midi was played be me on my midi guitar …. vox, strings, glock , and many of the various other supporting parts... with that I mixed a lot of audio that I played on various instruments…gtr , bass,….. the drums, organ and the harp were midi 's that i edited and dropped in to the project … and rendered . the second part of the song , I used a real harp in a few places via a local harpist... a good deal of the second section of the song involves using material i did not play on my midi guitar or analog guitar or instruments that I have and play for that matter... some of those parts were stuff like the organ , drums, piano , a lot of the strings , harp… I wish I could play those instruments like that , most of all those musical parts fit what I was looking to express musically …some I edited , some I didn't…. a great deal of those sounds took a lot of work to get them to sound the way they do ... all the best , Kenny

Super creative and interesting piece. Kind of sounds like an overture. The choir patch is definitely the weak link IMO. The guitars and strings (and other orchestral sounds) are pro or almost pro. An investment in a better choir patch would really notch this up by a lot I'm pretty sure. I really enjoyed this. Peace, Ian

Hi Herb , very true , it is an interesting departure from what I normally do I would like to get back to what I do at some point ….it seems I'm Lost at the moment thank you Ian Ferrin Super creative and interesting piece. Hi Ian, I'm pleased you looked past some of my songs shortcomings and found things about my music to enjoy Yes I agree with you that my choir is definitely weak …… I'm happy that it started out as an OK placeholder to at least get my songs vibe started , …..most of the sounds I have on this song I had to roll on my own … on the plus side , by doing that I can say that i have learned a lot ... I had to do it that way because I don't have any of the popular sample players such as Kontack or any of the mid to high end sample libraries to tell you the truth … this song put me up against a brick wall and I have to figure out a way to climb over it since it might take me a while to acquire some of the better sounding tools that a lot of people use I'll be doing my best to build a ladder to climb over that wall .. my short term goal is to get a lot better at rolling my own sounds … thank you for the song listen , and your honest critique Kenny

Hey Kenny this has some super parts in it. I really like the sounds you used and the overall mood of the piece makes me want to hear a whole album like this! The only crits are - The second half of the song has a bunch of section which all sound really cool, but I'm not sure how cohesive they really are. Maybe this is exactly what your going for though. Also - This would sound 100 times better with a real choir :) This is an awesome piece, please keep molding it! I love it

LpMike75 , I appreciate you giving my tune a listen and sharing your honest views we me when all is said and done my primary goal is to improve my music . I would really love to do a whole album of music like this and it is very possible that is the direction I am heading in for that to happen it is my honest opinion that I have to get better at a few things along the way I'm over here working on it ….I have been making some progress +1000 on the idea of using a real choir …. I might be able to make that happen if I beat the pavement and hit up a few local colleges .. the second part of the song is what I had started on first …. the first part of the song is what I spent the most time on and in my haste to post my newest work in progress I happened to add the second part of the song before it was fully matured and edited ... the reality is …it's all good as far as testing out the waters musically and getting a feel for where I need to develop and improve …thanks evadianepug Kenny, I'm not sure what I just heard because I didn't expect to hear it here. Hi Warren , I sure do like the looks of that Tele in your avatar you know , I always find it to be a tough thing when it comes to posting my music ... I've always experimented with coming up with my own thing …so to speak …. it is not always what people want to hear ….I certainly understood that fully with this song ... the good news is that I'm always striving to learn and build upon the sections of the song and my playing that people do want to hear ..myself included ... I'm still a work in progress and I hope my next musical offering will be more satisfying ... thank you Warren I'm glad you liked some of the musical sections of my tune Kenny

I like it but it seems like a lot of different ideas thrown together for an incomplete whole. Maybe if you could explain what your after? I like all the ideas within this. To me though, there doesn't seem to be any continuity. I do like how you can create different motion for the different parts rather than just motion supporting other motion. All in all, well done!!!

We'll never come up with that "thing" that everyone wants to hear. You stepped away from anything I've heard you do in the past and that is ballsy AND it sounds good. Just different, but, isn't that what you were looking to do? That is a Nashville USA Custom Tele. It is fun to play. I was a Gibson only guy for most of my life and now I don't even have one. Fender and Spector plus acoustics hang in my room now. I'm about ready to add a Gibson, though. I can't wait to hear your next tune.

Had a listen and I get what robbie is saying. It feels like a bunch of ideas put together but they are not cohesive a few of the stops it felt like I just changed the channel. On the other hand the guitars had some Great tones to them throughout which kept me listening to the end. I don`t know how to be constructive as I`m not a songwriter but If I were you I would look at turning this into about six different songs.
Whoa.... to you ...oh...earth and sea... for the devil sends the beast with wrath..... because he knows the time is short..... let him who hath understanding..... reckon the number of the beast..... for it is a human number... it`s number is..... 666 So if JESUS rose from the DEAD Does that mean he`s the ORIGINAL ZOMBIE?

Hi Freddy, yes, this tune was posted a little while ago and it pretty much has had a pretty slow start on this section of the forum, I would probably conclude in general for that matter , that this type of thing is simply not every ones cup of tea I ask myself this question all the time " why would anybody want to listen to me ? ... what do I have to offer them musically ?" imho , I feel these are very important questions for one to ask ones self ... in truth the only thing I have to offer musically is myself a few of my additional answers have included … everything thing in life seems to have a cost , on the flip side of the coin there is the whole .. every new musical growth experience one chooses to attempt to accomplish seems to have some sort of a pay off. Over here on my end , the creative end of things is probably one of the biggest attributes of an individualized expression that I cherish the most when it comes to me doing my music. since my current situaltion is i work alone … I allow and give myself permission to strive to produce and create good music …I don't always accomplish that goal... I have found that good judgment when it comes to getting good at music is the offspring of having exercised a lot of bad musical judgment ... the good news is nobody got hurt and hopefully some new musical lessons were learned and applied I just do the best I can and hope somebody enjoys or gets something out of the music I'm currently doing …. thanks for the listen and kind words Kenny
