Hide The Dots

Hello,

Is there any way to hide the dots before a clip starts in a track?  I believe they are called clipse pane ellipse.  I dont want to change their color as every track is a different color anyway, I just want them to never appear.

Thank You,

Adam

I don't really see your need but ... there you go.

Colors are actually set from Preferences > Customizaton > Colors
Do a Search for 'ellipse'

the track backgrounds are different colors.  Is there a way to just disable them?

Does this not work for you (from the other thread): "In Options | Color they are called Clips Pane Ellipse -- if you set them to the same colour as Track View Clips Pane Background they will disappear."

Once you set them that way, you won't see the dots. Although as pointed out, they can help prevent you from erasing a track that has off-screen material.

It works I guess, but it requires matching the exact grey, plus by default Sonar has different greys for odd/even tracks but there is only one ellipse color, so I can still see it on my odd numbered tracks.

I get the point of them, I'm just not a fan :(

Was hoping there was a universal "Show Ellipse" button.  I believe there was in Sonar 8.

How much more will they remove?

Well, you've obviously established they have to match to:
- View Background (even)
and
-View Background (odd)

You can get it exact, by 'choosing' the color and using matching the HSL and RGB values.

I wonder if you can do something with HSL to get it close on the odd tracks(?)

Seriously, I can't imagine someone feeling their musical creativity has been stifled because they can or cannot hide the tiny dots that indicate material exists offscreen. But to each his own. I think most people are interested in all the options that have been added in the X-series.

I just downloaded the 8.5 manual, and the only mention of the ellipses is the ability to change colors. I couldn't find any mention of a universal "show ellipse" button, so unless you can show otherwise, it wasn't removed.

oh, it doesn't hinder my musical creativity at all, does that mean I can't post about an annoyance unless it effects my musical creativity?

I believe there was, I could be wrong... but they DID get rid of Clip Background colors (as an automatic preference) from X1 to X3

My Defaults are:
1. View Background (even)
H 160, S 0, L 65
R 69, G 69, B 69
2. View Background (odd)
H 160, S 0, L 69
R 73, G 73, B 73
That creates enough contrast.

If I set 'Clips Pane Ellipse' to the same as 1. - I can't see the dots.

Yes - I hear ya - there doesn't appear to be a disable toggle(?).

Obviously you can post about anything you want, just don't expect others to have the same level of annoyance with something that at least to me seems pretty trivial. But if it's important to you, maybe it's important to someone else too. Submit a feature request to be able to hide the dots and see how many people think it merits programming resources compared to other feature requests.
