So no need to go invest in something like IKMultimedia's toys?

so il give the real deal the stock plugs with sonar x2 are basic if anyone is saying there great they must have droped 300-400 on the Prochannel stuff. i personaly hate the PC nonsence since i use many daw and software anything bound to your daw is useless. so consider if you want to pay more after x2, i have IK classic  and ozone those are steller.and its far more uselful and flexable.bricklimiter is all i would say is worth the money but remember they are xtra not included in producer so that my honest opinion, steller thats funny steller 500 bucks later maybe.
 

  How are they basic? Sonitus plugins are darn good. I don't know how they can be called basic. Nor do I understand how the word basic would apply anyway. The various X 64 line, those that have the 64 in the name such the tube TL 64 Tube Leveler are great and very useful. The mastering 64 plugins are phase linear and as good as they come for transparent sound.  

The PC modules give Sonar a unique sound that is what gives X1/X2 a separation from other DAWs. 

A test was done a few years back between the Sonitus EQ and the most popular third party ones. When the author removed the coloration from the third party ones he found there was no difference in the quality of those plugins.

CW has never bundled poor or simply basic plugins with Sonar.  

 
 

Doing a song now .. I just realize that I never found a good substitute for the ER in Sonitus reverb ... (and believe me, I tried!, 'cause it's on every single damn music I make for so many years!)

Same for the sonitus delay, the diffusion parameters, and filtering options makes it very useful. 

Also, the sonitus compressor is still the one I use: I don't know why, but the DBX preset just "hardens" the sound is pleasing way. I also use it for sidechaining. 

The gate is also great.

I can't stand the modulator though .. it just never feels right.

It's only when i go back and use the Sonitus Compressor that I forget just how easy it is to set up.

Good point, no less, that if Cakewalk wants to keep their plug-ins inside their own DAW, that's their perrogative.

 
Yup, with PC they're pretty much following ProTools, Logic, Digital Performer, Studio One, etc, all of which include proprietary plugins and synths.  
 

...I just think that limiting your own plug ins to your own DAW is not good for sales of the plug-ins, especially when Cakewalk seems to want in on that action. VST, baby!

 
Ditto.  The new trend with dual PC/VST versions, Softube included, reminds me of other manufacturers that include RTAS or TDM (or in the past MAS) in their installer.  Add PC into that category and we get the best of both worlds.
