With the end of the incandescent light bulb in Cali... I'm thinking one bapu is gonna be e-nuff.

I'm gonna start hoarding light bulbs this year.

Our house is 50% LED right now and they ALL look ugly.

A German company is getting around the incandescent lightbulb ban by marketing the bulbs as "edison heaters" ..... with a heat rating in watts....

That's a mighty bright heater you have there Hans! Ya, dat is goot!

It's not a matter of how many we need.  it's a matter of how many we can handle.  I'm thinking 0.1262415667324.

Are you serious Mike? You can't buy inc's in Cali anymore?

I HATE (I know it's a strong word) fluorescent and LED lighting. It actually gives me a headache. Although, I have to say, this is the first year they have made LED Christmas lights to my liking. You can get them in 'Cool' or 'Warm' now. I can't tell a difference between the 'Warm' and the older incandescent ones now. Ah, I remember the good old days at Christmas when I was a lad, we'd all huddle beside the tree to get warm from all those C9 lights. :) You'd have to water the tree 10 times a day because it just sucked it all up from all the heat, but they were good times. :)

Bapu! Where have you been! Look at my signature! See what they've been doing to me! You can't leave me alone here for this long, I get in to too much trouble! You can never have too many Bapuasizzez.

    :)

Bub, I think the news report is that the 100 watt bulb is now or soon to be gone in Cali and there is a plan to phase out all the smaller ones to.

I live in Florida... so I think we should ask bapu... but my guess is that he's at Walmart buying up the 100 watters.

OVER IN BRITIAN TOO ALL incandescent outlawed by 2012

The 'old' bulbs are strating to fetch a premium price in some outlets too, just to rub it in.

However, at least the news is good for those of us who have converted 100% to the new long-life bulbs; I bought a mixture of wattage ratings (some screw fitting, some bayonet) from Tesco last week - some were 10p (16c) each, the expensive ones were 20p (32c) each

Tesco have also addressed the well documented dimness of some of the newer bulbs with their new 23W bulb which has a rating of 1,450 lumens - equivalent to a 'real' 103W bulb (these are the 10p ones and all!).

Although quite a bit more expensive to buy, they're also selling energy-saving bulbs that now work OK with dimmer switches.

How many Bapus?....Why, all of them of course!

The whole is less than the sum of the parts...or something like that.

During our recent cold snap in Wisconsin, I did an experiment with fluorescent lighting. I went to the hardware store and bought the lowest temperature rated 100w fluorescent bulb (that is, one that works well in cold temperatures) I could find and replaced one of my garage overhead bulbs with it. I have been watching it with a critical eye.

You guessed it....Dim...dimmer...dimmest. They just don't cut it in freezing temperatures. I am going to buy a few hundred 100, 75 and 60 watt incandescent and hoard them. With luck, I will run out just about the same time I leave this 'vale of tears'.

I'm not sure if I'm right handed or left handed when it comes to Bapu, so I'm thinking I should get one of each.

And what colors does he come in?

And I definitely need the model that comes with the Alembic (sadly I heard a 5-string model wasn't available yet). Luckily they're all in Am, so I won't need an extra to keep in an alternate tuning.

Wait, how many is that? I'm going to need a rack for them...
