I've only messed with the tube sat briefly but I liked what it did on a bass track. Makes it all warm and gooey.

I love the big Tube knob...but the GUI for the EQ is awful in my opinion...Timeworks EQ is just so much better, and the built in Spectrum Analysis is priceless....Sonitus Compressor can do everything all those compressor modules do and way more, plus the GUI is far superior.. R

+1 to spectrum analyser. I've moved to Sonar just for pro channel. Sounds unique. I also have Waves SSL bundle. It sounds great too but -i don't know how to explain- ProChannel sounds more "logarithmical" to me :)

Only the EQ and Concrete Limiter (but recently got Ozone 5, so CL may go). It would be great if the EQ could be put in the fx bin. Save screen space, easier to position in the fx chain, multi-EQs would be possible, etc.

People are saying they like the PC because the plugs sound good, and that's OK. But the question is the PC concept compared to the FX bin concept. I think it would be convenient if ALL the PC plugs were also fx binnable for the reasons I mentioned in my previous post.

At present Jazzsinger one can use multi EQs with the PC and the FX bin. Nothing is stopping anyone from using it and another VST at the same time. And using buses with it can provide multi EQs under the PC. As for the screen space used that is not much of an issue when one considers that a VST often uses a lot more screen space when open. Than with PC being in the Inspector pressing I can free up screen space very quickly. None of the convenience of the PC would be of any use if it did not perform extremely well. That is the important point.

I use it almost all the time. Three reasons - the tools sound great, it fits the way I like to work and there are some great examples of how to use it all over this website.

I like it and I try it on everything. I haven't found anything bad since the last update. Try using the appropriately named presets on your next drum mix and you'll be surprized. I use the ProChannel with any of my Kontakt drums and the results really impressed me. There's presets for overheads, toms, hats, etc. I wish they would relocate the effects bin to the ProChannel. It just makes sense to have it there instead of have it on its own. If they did this it would force everyone to use ProChannel. Hmm, sounds like a good move if Cakewalk wants to grow its ProChannel module business. On the other hand, if the effects bin was in the ProChannel you'd have all your favourites right there and not need their modules. Tough call. I wish it had a really good sounding reverb module with a simple interface and presets. The saturation knob from Softube is great compared to the Cakewalk module and only has 1 knob. How about a reverb module with lots of presets and 3 or 4 knobs. I'd like to have that consistency across all tracks.

I can't say I use the PC that much except for the EQ. It is a very nice EQ. Agreed about the graphics being to small. I wish they would put a button in the modules so you can enlarge the view so everything is easier to see. Not being able to see it well is a PC showstopper for me.

I just installed the upgrade from 8.0 to X1d. I bought X1 back when it was first available but didn't really have the need or time to break something that was working fine. Anyway, I don't regret the cut over/upgrade one bit. The Pro Channel is everything it was advertised to be, I use the EQ as part of a standard template simple carry along High pass filter. I was using a waves plug for all my EQing. I guess the short answer is errr Yup!

I use it! The PC absolutely rules for quickly dialling in bread-and-butter EQ and compression while in the creative writing/tracking phase. This way my flow isn't interrupted by spending time thinking about plugins.

I'm all over the PC - Love it!!!! I have everything except the PC4K S-Type Channel Compressor. After I got the Softube bundle I feel it has everything I need and then some. And then they released the Concrete Limiter and PC2A... I still use a lot of VSTs but for basic mixing duties - and then some - I hardly can be bothered going through the list. I have it all mapped to a Nocturne through ACT and now I just select a module and dial in the sound I want. If's perfect for me.

I like the PC modularity. But I sure do like my Sonitus suite. It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if they reworked the Sonitus Plugins and made them Pro Channel.

I use the Pro Channel on most every track, incorporated with whatever additional plugs are needed for a given track. I agree with others about the GUI being on the small side. Would love an exploding view option! That would make my day!! lol I'm at the point where I'm no longer looking for the next great plugin and just learning the ins and outs of what I have. Too many choices just slows me down!

PC for sure. I have regular clients and have their 'vocal sound' saved as a PC preset. It makes set up so much easier - I just tweek the settings to suit the new song/recording.

I never use the Prochannel - I found that with the problems it had (version C) where it would turn itself on and off randomly, that I couldn't rely on it, as a result I have become used to using other tools. Then again I have none of the expansions so maybe installing them helps? I did like it the few times I used it. Have the problems with it turning itself on and off (by itself) been resolved? I would love to use it! I won't be buying any expansions though as I don't want plugins that I can only use in Sonar.

I would concur with some of the comments that the PC EQ interface is not the best in the world, but given all the function in the small space, it is reasonable. The HPF and LFP are awesome and I use the HPF to roll off bottom on a large number of tracks in any project. (You have to get things out of the way of the kick and bass, and you also don't want kick and bass fighting too much for the same band.) Example: There is a night and day difference in the SI-Electric Piano (Rhodes) that comes with Producer before and after cutting a bunch of bottom out with the HPF. It sounds good without EQ solo, but in a track it gets muddy really fast. It is better if you have a console that supports the EQ so you can use actual knows instead of trying to tweak those freq bands with a mouse! Tip: If you don't already know this, hold down the Shift key when moving knobs to make fine adjustments. I will bet 99% of you know this, but someone's life will change by learning that! By the way, the 1176 emulation is pretty good for a free, bundled, software-only plug-in. To me, it is not as quiet as a real 1176 LN, but in fairness, I no longer have a hardware unit for side-by-side comparison. The real ones I used always belonged to one of the larger facilities where I was cutting.

I use the gate in PC whenever I need one. I just Softube's TSAR-1R and so when I use that, I'll probably use it on a bus in PC. Overall, I'm still an old skool FX bin guy. FWIW, I do have all the Cake PC modules. Missed out on the Softube bundle.
