How to copy ProChannel EQ settings to another channel? Solved: Ctrl+DnD, EQ must be on

With the Sonitus EQ I could copy it complete with settings from one track's FX bin to another.
I'm trying to do the same with the ProChannel EQ.

There was a way in the Console view, but I can't remember how.

ctrl+drag perhaps?

A rack of noisemakers is not a definitive substitute for creativity. (though it does seem to help)

I know two ways.

1. Save a ProChannel preset with the source EQ, then load the preset in a different ProChannel. However you cannot copy only the EQ, so if loaded, this will overwrite the target's existing preset.

2. Visually, by copying the knob settings from one to the other.

ctrl+drag

This works in both the Inspector and Console views. IIRC, this was the way it was done with the Sonitus EQ the only difference is  the QuadCurve EQ resides in the PC.

@randyman: first thing I tried. Nope.

@Craig: I just want to copy the EQ.
If I press Ctrl and click MouseDown on the numeric value, a red dot appears on the same button on the other EQ.
If I then drag the numeric value across (NOT the knob! That changes the setting), then sometimes - but only sometimes - the value on the other track jumps to the value on this track.

So it seems the bakers have already foreseen this scenario, but I can't figure how it's supposed to work...

Hi. Select tracks, click on preset, and Ctrl click on open.
All the best.
Edit: Didn't notice it was just EQ. Sorry!

I can't figure out how to do this, can one of you help with more details? I click on the EQ module in the ProChannel and drag to another ProChannel, but it seems the settings don't transfer.

In console view, Ctrl+click on PC eq graph and drag to wherever.

There are two QCEQ instances in the inspector, the track and the track's output setting.
It is probably more useful in the Console view but it is possible to drag the between the Inspector and Console view too.

Hi. Select tracks, click on preset, and Ctrl click on open.

I clicked on Tracks, and the menu says "Make Instrument track" etc...
But no menu called "preset"

I don't quite follow.
Do you mean the individual buttons?
If I do that, the value of the original button changes as I drag.

Strange. Not working here. I don't get the Drag icon with the plus sign, either.
I have Feb. 2017 build 45
Or is there a setting that might prevent this?

Wow! Thanks Steve, that's great. I was trying to drag the big graph in the EQ, not the one in the channel strip. This is a fantastic piece of knowledge that I will use often...much appreciated!!

Thanks for the tip, Steve!
I found that it only works with collapsed EQ's, if that's of any help.

The PC EQ must be powered on in the source and target for the ctl-drag to work.

Well, I rebooted, restarted Sonar and created a fresh project.
Created 2 tracks and it works, just like you showed above.

Opened my old project, tried exactly the same thing, and it didn't work.

I created my old project this morning. And all it contains is my guitar playing.

Odd.

Pretty sure the PC and QCEQ power button states do not matter. I just tested two cases, one with the source EQ turned off and another with both source and target turned off. In both cases, the EQ copied OK.
This is wrong see later posts. The source EQ power button must be on, the source and target PC power buttons and target EQ power buttons do not matter.

It should not matter. If there is a way to reproduce the failure, it should be submitted as a problem report.

Source has to be on for me - doesn't matter about the target track.

Here's what I found:

The source EQ must be on.
The target EQ will be on after the drop, even if it was off initially.

The on or off state of the entire PC (source or target) has no effect and does not change.

I don't think the power state of the target EQ matters, but the source EQ does need to be powered up.

I think you are correct. I tested again and made sure source was off. The drag option is not available. I guess that makes sense but it might be worth writing up any way.
