The easy method that I've discovered to take care of this delete whole issue is to:
1) never try to use it (X3 and platinum)
2) Get rid of (delete) the data you want removed and then slide everything from the right to cover the hole.
I always slide data that is a large chunk by first selecting all. ( CTRL+A)
Then selecting the beginning of the section that I want to slide. ( I have hot keys set to select "from" and "to" )
And then choosing Process > Slide
and then typing in the number of measures I went to slide by.
Craig Anderton made a great suggestion a while back about creating a group of all the data that you want to move.
That way it all moves together without fail.
