Doesn't seem to be an overkill
I thought the general rule was that you use Valve mic's with solid state pre's
And solid state mic's with valve pre's. Anyhow curiosity got the better of me and I'm glad I tried it...so much smoother than the previous version...and not as coloured as I expected it to be. The backing vox are a straight solid state chain.
