Good work, guys. Did Mr. Lake proud, I think. All you needed to do was double-track the vocal and you'd have nailed his sound.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Wookiee played me this the other day. Much more than a decent cover of the old Greg Lake wonder-hit, I think it's better.

really like the capture on the opening acoustics...
good performances all the way around....
i'd prefer to hear the lead vox dry,
but in keeping with the original, it's right on the line.
nice job!
and very timely......

As an old ELP fan, I thought this was very well done!  All of the instrumentation sounds great as do the lead vocals.  And the mix brings them together nicely.

As Bit mentioned I'd also love to hear the lead vocals double-tracked, but it still works like this.  Oh, and the British accent does add that little something.

BTW, we both know what you all mean about the double tracked vocals. Daryl and I don't feel the need to fully recreate the song as is, we like to put a little of our own spin on it. We hope we accomplished that.

I'll ask the original composer where to send the royalties...

Since we're not selling (or giving it away) I suspect the royalties are nil*. How much does a nil go for these days anyways?

*I have a query into the Harry Fox Agency asking if a not-for-sale, non-streaming-radio version of a cover requires a mechanical license. If it does, this will be licensed. If you could please let the composer know that, it would greatly appreciated.

Well, half of the royalties are gone soon anyway, almost 70 years after his death. ;)

I missed this 3y ago, great cover! With the build-up, orchestration, singing and chimes it really is the perfect christmas song.
