I have Sonar X1, now how sell my music

I have the software installed,I want to make music and sell like I said.

Some questions------

How long the track be so it can be sell?

What should be in the music people like to listen? Which instrument makes it for a good sell?

How much time until will the money arrive?

This is my favorite post of the whole year.

Here's some brief attempts at answers:

    1) generally speaking there's no rule about song length. Average pop songs are 3.5min and you earn double-royalties from ASCAP for things over 6min (or is it 6.5min?).

    2) No rules here either. There's so many styles of music and niche-specific things there's no rules here. If you wanted to write metal, for example, you're pretty much gonna want to put guitars in. If you are writing synth-pop then some swirly synths and an auto-tuned vocal is expected. Figure out the music you want to write and listen to other examples of it to start finding formula ideas.

    3) Hahahahah! The money "arrives" when you sell something, and is a totally different process than making music. People have written several books on this topic, it's something even the music industry doesn't understand anymore. In order to make money of your music you need to find someone who wants to pay you money for it, plain and simple.

No. You just email your bank account details, including PIN and password to my cousin. He lives in Nigeria and he promised me to make lots of money. His aunt-in-law who was a big chief in the UN is dead and now he wants to help you.

I agree. by far the best post of the year!!

ok everyone will have thier own opinion.  For me, the option I personally would pick would be to make about 5 great songs with a strong beat that are catchy and have a good hook. (generally about 3-4 mins long and about 100-120bpm.)  then sign the rights over to me and i'll master it, copyright it and send it over to distrubition for packaging.  then if/when it goes platnum, i'll mail you a check for 10% or one million virtural dollars (wich ever is greater)  :)    all you gotta do is keep sending me the hit songs and watch the cash start flowing in...

oh and  for the video...  having as many attractive large breasted half naked women as possible will increase sales hugely!!    so you'll want to send them to me as well to maximize your chances for a hit..
and most importantly...     have fun !
the best music is written from the heart !!

Phenom Quad core,  8gb ram, 3.5tb of Fine Music Storage Vault Under Armed Guard w/ UAV support (air-hog chopper), set of MA-15D, Delta 10-10 pci w/interface, m-box 3 pro, projectmix I/O, Metal Pop Filters, Two SKB cases Full of Suck Removal Buttons, Cedar Walls, Stripper Pole (helps with mastering & block priceing) more stuff i'm to lazy to add. ;)

Nice video, Mr. Rbowser, I did not have time to make music this Christmas yet (although I'll have it on January 7, and street infrastracture rapairs lasting for 2+ weeks would not allow to record noise free vocal anyway), but I had fan on December 25, here are two samples

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdoi54PG8VA

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwHEA4dzbV4
(related videos to the left should show the icon of similar video with some music)

Advise: get Cyberlink Power Director 9 to bring your videos like Little Town to new level of creativity with few mouse clicks (depending on your learning the program, fantastic video tutorial library available), I did it and have fun making videos and learning it further

    Why I love Sonar?

    http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=2001059&mpage=1#2001998

No longer impressed by Alan Parsons/Led Zeppelin tone. With tools from Cakewalk I can make more impressive sound. Should I compete? No.

ok everyone will have thier own opinion.

I have the software installed,I want to make music and sell like I said.

    Some questions------

How long the track be so it can be sell?

What should be in the music people like to listen? Which instrument makes it for a good sell?

How much time until will the money arrive?

    Step 1.) Get Sonar ----> Step 2.) ????? ----> Step 3.) Profit!

    I love your logic!

    and agreed best post EVER!
