First answer: Stop tapping the mic Bapu!
Second answer: Look inside and see if it's sagging.

Julien,

"If the ribbon is slack, you’ll hear a clanging sound when the ribbon hits the magnet."
That sounds like what I've been trying to describe.

I found out today that the mic is under warranty so it will PROBABLY only be the cost of shipping.

Any thin peice of metal corrugated like that is bound to stretch. I'm suprised the ribbons are so thin and not gold plated.

Awesome... on a 1k mic, that is good news! I wonder what they go through in wholesale/retail storage and shipping. Once you get it you can make sure it is kept in an upright position but who knows what it goes through between the factory and the studio..

I don't know but I betcha that one could do everything with an AEA R44 and a Shure KSM 44A.

Why does everything always cost more than I have? The story of my life... I need to sell some stuff so I can buy some more stuff.

What out for those little old ladies--go, Granny, go.

Ok, I'll bite.  Did you post in the correct thread Jan?

Yes.  He's going to Pasadena, isn't he?

Wow...  That one was so obscure even I didn't get it!  Maybe he should bring his prize roses if he goes?

That's exactly how I have kept (on a stand) since the day it was mounted.

Well, all is well that ends well. The warranty coverage is good news. Maybe you can call them, make an appointment, and get them to fix it while you wait. Then you don't have to worry about what UPS or USPS may do to it after it is fixed... just a thought.

Bapu, how can just sit there and not look inside? I would be climbing the walls.

Julien, I requested to "wait" they said no, they have a backlog. I shipped it today but I requested Will Call pick up.
