I haven't installed X3 yet, because my hardware needs upgrading.  However, I have been reading comment about R-MIX and V-Vocal.  If you use them, install X3 on the same DAW as X2 or you'll lose them.  They're not included with X3.  I'm sure others will provide more detail on this.

I think as long as you have the X2 install files you can do a custom instalation and just select these two??

So, does this mean it's possible to install some of the plugins exclusively to X2 into X3?  For example Session Drummer 3?
This is something I've always wondered, but never asked....

oh yeah, that's ceratinly easy to do.  just choose what you want installed from the checkboxes when you start the install.

true, but I paid for Editor and I like having Editor to help with chords.

will my version of melodyne integrate like the included version?

Yes, yes, yes - Your existing Melodyne editor will work, Pablo is suggesting selling the Elements version that you will get bundled with X3

The integration of Melodyne is almost worth it on it's own. Very slick compared to the clunky way it worked before. You could also sell your new melodyne licence to someone else who doesn't have it to recoup some of the $$. All versions of melodyne are the same download/software from celemony, it's the licence number you have that determines which version you see on screen.

Yup.  It picks up your exsiting version. You don't need to install the new one at all - so sell the new one for a few $$ and it's an even better deal.

Which version of melodyne do you have? I was led to believe that if you have melodyne editor 1.x then
the melodyne installed with Sonar x3 (that is melodyne 2 basic but not melodyne editor) could mess you up.
I went ahead and upgraded to melodyne editor 2 (haven't installed) and then I upgraded to Sonar x3 (haven't installed it either).

Hey Beagle,
Besides the new toys that have already been mentioned, X3 performs smoother on my system than X2.  I like the comping better and I use Melodyne all the time for edited audio in many ways as well as converting audio to midi.
I also really like the fly-out EQ.  Addictive Drums was fun to play with but I still rely on SD 2.

I was told by Melodyne Support that after I upgraded to Melodyne Editor 2 that I should use that (Editor 2) reg/serial #
when the Sonar X3 upgrade asked for the melodyne serial and not the one from the Sonar upgrade. If you do get SonarX3 you might research that just to make sure.

Thanks Jimmy.

"better comping" so far is the only thing that has really kept me considering it.  and that's very relative.

if they had fixed the drum map or something useful like that I probably wouldn't have had to consider it.

as it is, time is running out for my decision...
