It does not state (nor did I think it implied) that anybody will lose any of their Gear Credits. That would be absurd and will not be happening. It is a pricing change as happens regularly and as we are seeing with at least two other plugin companies at this time. Though it also has not been implied, some have felt we were going to change to a subscriptions system like others, but that is not the case here either. Hope that helps. To be 100% crystal clear: If you have X credits now, you will have the same X credits after the pricing restructuring. Nobody will lose any Gear Credits (unless they spend them, of course!).

This is what came from IK "...we will be reshuffling our pricing across the board and also readjusting the value of Gear Credits in the process..."
I don't know..but that sounds like if you have X credits NOW you won't have X credits later...as they will be adjusted according to the new price structure per IK....UNLESS your current gear credits go unaffected and NEW gear credits will be adjusted accordingly...which isn't clear by the email IK sent....IJS

I would think they would leave credit balances alone and adjust purchase prices/credits. Messing with credit balances would result in pandemonium. We wouldn't want to see that again, would we? Rocky

Also, Everyone is well aware of how well IK keeps their word.... (2009 - SampleTank 3 is in the works and coming soon!) (2013 - there will be NO SAMPLETANK 3 FREE) (Also, if you sell something you've earned Jampoints for, even if it's years later, they take the Jampoints back, and will maintain a negative balance until you've purchased enough to get you "back out of the hole"...what kind of BS is that?) etc...ad nauseum.... I LOVE IK Products, and Pete's a great guy who's just doing his job...one day...they'll wake up...and stop the BS'ing (I Hope - I think IK loves the "vague technicality loophole scenario", politicians do too! ) Anyways...here's to GREAT Products and rhetoric...

Again, we're not taking away any Gear Credits from you if you have them. I hope that is clear enough this time. Also, we've been over the ST3 Free (it was in context of the SampleTank 2.x free version that was out - release years after the initial SampleTank 2 release - and in context of one that imports legacy libraries which was specifically being discussed, and that is still the case). When you last mentioned it, I had I.T. look at JamPoints and they are not to take you into a negative at any point and support can help if that is the case (which was suggested when it was mentioned), and yes JamPoints you got from something you sell will be removed, that doesn't seem so out of the question and they will expire as per the stated policy (and we remind about this when it is going to happen) and that is still not to take you into the negative so if a glitch occurred it could be handled by support. And SampleTank 3 was late, we realized that and have released it and here we are. I think that covers those alleged "misdeeds" by IK and IK's word being kept. If alerted to a negative JamPoints balance, IT's word that isn't supposed to happen would have been upheld after review of your specific situation. If that did not happen, your support request could have and can be escalated. I do thank you for the kind words and hope that this clarification doesn't cloud those sentiments.

Wow Lar, as you see, Peter's a great guy indeed. Must have been a record in customer care reaction time :) As for SampleTank 3, I'm quite happy with the time it took, 'cause I really love the final product as a workstation. And SampleTank 3 Free? Well, the fact they did launch it after maybe deciding not to at first, is a good thing. I see it as a company listening to its customers. A lot of people were ranting that it wouldn't come, so IK launched SampleTank 3 Free as well as LE. Also, their way of telling people that prices will go up in advance is a good thing. Not many companies do this. In fact it's awkward in a way. Companies that don't tell people in advance don't get the rants, and those who do, do. Life is funny

Well, I'm not happy with the time it took but my ****ing didn't help either - it was to be late as it was and that's not going to change that it was nor will it change how unhappy a lot of people were about that. I don't mean to sound like I'm saying "get over it" I'm definitely not going to expect THAT from anybody, just that it is out thank whatever made that happen at least and that it can be used now by those who did wait and end up purchasing it. We also have some more sound libraries coming out that I've seen and heard details of so that's another thing that should happen ASAP and I'm sure I'm not the only one impatient about that part either. Larry's got good points all around. I'm also not discrediting Larry's opinion about SampleTank 3 Free and how it did look like there might be a good possibility of one that could import - but that would have been long before the lead-up to the actual release (which was also, admittedly, quite the long a haul) and I did my best to course correct and tried to be clear that there wouldn't be one that imported at the time of release. The best estimate I could give, and I don't know if there will ever be one even to this day based on any information I have, is that it would follow the trajectory of the 2.x free version that imports which didn't get released for years after the initial ST2 release. That's the best I can do on that topic, and I hope I'm being clear in that some of that is still speculation on my part but trying to share any insight I can without getting hopes up or improperly dashing them either. I'd say it would still be far off as we're still on the cusp of releasing more libraries for ST3 so there's that road to travel for a while at least. But back to the topic at hand, we're also listening on this topic and have certainly learned from the experience and know what to clarify up front next time (but personally I hope any pricing adjustment's "next time" is far off in the future). I've spoken directly (well typed, I suppose) to quite a few of the participants in this thread and hope I can remain helpful going forward. I apologize if any of the previous message seemed at all unhelpful, as is sometimes the case when communicating via forum/typing and trying to be as succinct as possible (and not really succeeding there or in this message :) ).

You're a stand up guy, Peter. Now I remember the discussion about Sampletank 3 Free's capacity to import the older libraries. But indeed, you corrected that one, and such things happen, which is normal over a long period of time. As for your last paragraph, well that's the reason why I believe your participation in these forums is invaluable. You tend to listen to the arguments in these topics and discuss them with your colleagues at IK. This way the arguments are not only interesting for us, users, but also for you as employees. And in the end more good products may come out of it for us :)

I've seen some nice progress on AmpliTube and T-RackS so as long as they keep the train a-rollin' and the quality on par with the latest T-RackS gear, it should definitely be a great year for gear from IK.

I appreciate Larry's OP and Peter's comments throughout. I am very happy with all my IK stuff and will happily use up the rest of my credits in AmpliTube CS, since I have everything in T-Racks after the last group buy. I bought the Total Studio Bundle 3, a few years ago when I was going to upgrade to AmpliTube 3 and it was only $50 more the to get the whole TSB3. Not long after that I upgraded T-Racks to Grand and bought up credits during a sale, knowing I would be more than pleased with whatever I added. I still am and expect to continue to be so! Thanks. I'd really like to see AT4 "out-amp" S-Gear...that's now the benchmark in amp sims IMO. I haven't used anything that sounds as good. Granted it's not as extensive as RV4 or GR5 or AT4, but it sounds SUPERB - no other word to describe. That's a TALL order...but one can hope! Bias Desktop, if you like to "tweak" for Rock and Metal is also superb, but doesn't nearly match S-Gear overall. (The pretty pictures are Tre-Kewl also ( Baps)) Waves better poop or get off the pot with GTR3...that program is getting VERY long in tooth...it can still get usable sounds, but it takes some doing. AmpLion Pro can be decent, Kuassa can be decent, and the freebies are quite surprising given the right place and care. Recabinet 4 with Thermionik also has done a decent job, but limited in scope. I've never had the pleasure of using the Softube Amps or BX_Rockrack, so can't comment much about those. Amp Sims are getting quite numerous...but, IMO, S-Gear reigns supreme. I use ReValver 4 quite a bit, and have been "re-exploring" all my Amplitube gear, since I just picked up a bunch of new amps and cabs... (I almost have everything AT- I do have everything TR) ...but sound wise, they don't have the "feel" or the "sound" that S-Gear has... and the effects in S-Gear are outstanding...and I want to feel it soon! (before the 28th!!! - cuz I never pay full price LOL)

Sure, but I think I'll wait for the new T-RackS stuff and use my 90 gear credits for that. Got some 140 JamPoints left too. Thing is that, as a 90% keys man and 10% acoustic guitarist, T-RackS stuff seems more interesting for me ... On the other hand, I do have some AmpliTube for iPad stuff. Sadly my credits cannot be used in the iPad store.

After watching Jim Alfredson's review of the Ventilator 2, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxF_MkTWQYE I started thinking I'll have to try some AT3 stuff on my Kurz organs! The overdrive stuff is so cool on the Ventilator that imitating that is a new project for me, especially since I just got the PSP L'otary. A pal posted an old "Big Pink" Band tune on FB that had this funky overdriven Wurly, the other day and I got the bug to try that out next track with a Wurlitzer on it. I used to own an A200 and a 140(a?), so it'll be fun to recreate that flavor, too. I use the AAS Lounge Lizard for EP's.

Sounds quite nice, Michael, and I love the dedicated stop button. Me too, I use (and love) Lounge Lizard. Which AT3 plug would you use to imitate the Ventilator? Rick already suggested the 3 rotary cabs (147-1 with the original woofer and 147-2 with a modern woofer). There's also a Vibratone 1x10” Rotary based on the Fender model. Guys, would it be a good idea to simply purchase the 15-plug Rack Pack bundle with my 90 credits, even though I'm a keys player? (There's a rotary in there too ) Then again, you can buy the full Amplitude 3 bundle with 160 plugins including the Rack Pack for $99 at Musician's Friend, so using my credits for a measly 15-plug Rack Pack doesn't look good, even if the alternative is hoarding them until further notice. And finally, I guess we still cannot purchase plugs with a mix of JamPoints (30%) and Gear Credits (instead of having to buy credits with 30% JPs and 70% hard-earned cash) so those 140 Jampoints keep on collecting dust ...
