As I wrote in my earlier reply: if you use the 32bit version of kontakt 5.4 all your projects should open without the parse error. At least this worked for me.
Just remove the 64bit dll (or rename the extension) from your plugin folder on your harddrive and sonar automatically uses the 32bit version in your projects. This way you can uses platinum untill Cake or NI come up with a fix.

Thanks for a workaround solution liinnerd, do you have good performance with heavy kontakt projects with 32bit version of kontakt?

I'm currently testing a few different projects that use Kontakt 5 and some of them crash. So my workaround doesn't seem to work every time.

Hi Folks,

I heard back from NI. They are aware of the issue and its scheduled for development.
Apparently there is a workaround by switching OS localization settings but I do not have a lot of info on that. Perhaps you can directly check with NI support about this since they might have more information.

Thnx Noel! I Think I found it.

Just go to 'Region and Language'  in Windows and set the format to 'English (United States)'

Everything seems to run just fine now.

Thnx again for your input!

Awesome thanks for confirming that it resolves the issue!
English(UK) should also be ok I believe.

Yep, It seems that every English option works. Tried UK and Trinidad and Tobago and all work fine.  My initial setting 'Dutch (Netherlands)' gave an error. I even tried 'German (germany)' ,since NI is a German company, one would think that would work, but even that gave me a parse error.

So as long as you stay with format 'English (xxxxxxxx)' you should be fine.

I can confirm that changing to English (United States) from Region/Formats with windows 8.1 x64, fixes the problem.

I was trying to reproduce that error, but I couldn't. Until I noticed that you were using X3E and I'm using Platinum. :-/
So I switched back to X3e to test it and couldn't reproduce it either.

Did you try creating a new routing setup from scratch? and maybe use the vst version with 16 or 64 outputs?

My link is a known issue I think (I could be wrong). Yes it's X3E and the parsing of the output names is the error (probably xml based). Wonder if it is the same issue coding issue just different symptoms with a different Sonar version...

I don't know. The problem described in this thread is caused by a fault during the parsing of kontakt scripts. Because some line break or other piece of code gets interpreted wrong due to the difference in punctuation marks between English and Non-English language. (e.g. Date separated with a slash instead of dash, etc. )   At least that's my theory ;-).

So your problem could be related, but I don't think so because I assume you're language setting is already on english. One other thing I noticed is the parsing error started occurring at version 5.4 so maybe you could revert to an earlier version and see if that helps.

Got the same parse error in Kontakt5 on my german windows machine. But only with Sonar Platinum. All other DAW's like StudioOne, ProTools or Sonar X3 runs fine with Kontakt5 and german localization.
Don't think this is a bug caused by Kontakt, because only the new Sonar Platinum produces this errors.

I will give up on this and uninstall platinum and install X3e because I really need a full working sonar, don't have the time to play a tester here really, loading projects with kontakt 5 in it complaining about "parse error" and I have to click 10-20, 30 times per project (depends on the project) on ok button turns me off ( and also I read there was some melodyne issues too in platinum?! ) so I will give platinum a break and wait a few months before I install it again (hoping in the meantime these issues are fixed)...

I don't get why people do that with new releases.  Sonar.exe is not a large file.  I use to have S7 - X3 on one machine.

BTW I don't seem to have this bug on W7.

The issue I have with Kontakt in Platinum is SCRATCHY STATIC.
I have 2 Tracks witn Kontakt Choirs on an X3e project that I opened
In Platinum.  They opened fine, but they sound like S**T...static and scratchy and completely
unusable.

CPU and Hard Drive and Memory are all ok on the performance meter...
Not good.

Also have the Melodyne Issue...works fine in X3, not available in Platinum.
I have Melodyne Editor 2.1.2

So far, while the install went well, these problems are major show stoppers...
and I've already installed the first update and still have the same problems...

There are some other anomalies also...but I can't recall them all right now...

Same parse errors here (German Win 7), latest Kontakt 5, Sonar Platinum.
The project still loads fine in X3E!

Showstopper so far ...

Yes, I've changed the date/time format to English(USA) and it works, but has impact on other applications.

Still wondering whether NI or Cake causes the problem, and who will fix it - and of course when it will be fixed ...

I have this problem and indeed use a French Windows 8 64 bits OS.
My OS and all my plugins are up to date.
I prefer not change my OS International settings because it will impact my other softeares.

Will stick with X3 until it's corrected because I mainly use Kontakt.

EDIT
I've changed my mind and created a shortcut to the International Localisation Configuration Panel on my desktop.
Now I can quickly changed it to US before starting Sonar and revert it when I quit.

It's a bit annoying and the fix still needed, but I can enjoy using Sonar right now
:-)

This is a showstopper for me as well. I use the Swedish version of Windows 8.1 64bit.
I'm not willing to change the language in windows to English in order to fix this. It's a bug that should be fixed by Cakewalk or NI, IMO.

I'll stick with X3 until it's done.

You don't change the language of the GUI with that workaround!!Try the workaround before and see by urself.

I have sonar platinum with german language installed. When I change the region settings in Win7 64Bit to EN US before opening sonar, sonar changes automatically to DE and the errors are there. Changing the settings to EN US when sonar is already open doesn´t change anything.
When I quit all the errors (hold down the enter key long enough ) the instruments do finally load in Kontakt and can be played. I don´t know if there are problems in using Kontakt after this.

Hi Musikus,

You need to apply the changes to your Region Format before opening sonar. Did you click apply? Maybe it is caused by your German version of Sonar? I believe Sonar asks which language version it should install upon installation.

Please try again and make sure you applied the correct settings in the Region and Language and click Apply --> OK (forgot to do this myself a few times while searching for a solution to this problem) ;-)
And remember to alway close Sonar and open it again after applying these changes.

If this doesn't help you could try to install the english version of sonar. I know this is a pita, but I can't think of anything else right now until this problem is fixed by either NI or Cake.

Good luck, keep us posted!
richard

ps: Is there anyone else that has this same problem with the workaround not working for them?

Changing the region setting does not help as well.
German OS too.
