Pretty cool! Sounds like the guitar is fading up notes in some sections. Are you using a volume pedal, or little finger or am I imagining it all?  ;)

Excellent guitar playing - nice job.

Thank you for giving this clip a listen

Yes, I think you absolutely achieved your goal of simple and melodic.  Really tasty phrasing and note selection, and you can feel your restraint in the playing.  Excellent playing, man.

People have been telling me for years to slow it down and play much simpler
As we all know that was my plan on this one .

I'm real happy you liked my playing

Hi Glennbo ,

It is not your imagination playing tricks on you
                                                You have just entered

In the past I used to record my guitar parts while using VST's in my effects bin and then go in and edit my sounds ...
No longer will I do that .
On this song I recorded my guitar sounds as exactly as I wanted to hear them and print them as the red light was on and recording .
My signal chain was complex , so for now I'm gonna keep it close to the vest .
Yes you did hear my pinky doing volume swells also  some of my other sounds you have heard were dynamically induced in real time ..
ex ...my delays are set low but when I pick harder they come up in my guitar sound ..
Same with a few other effects I had used for this ...

Thank you for listening so closely and hearing much of the subtly I had introduced as I played it on my guitar

all the best,

Kenny

Very cool Kenny. I could never get the hang of using my pinky, but I've worked with guys who, like you, can do it quite well. My excuse is that I'm a drummer, even though I dabble in other instruments.

As for recording with the sound you want, right off the bat . . .  That's the way I always have done it going all the way back to the old multi-track tape days. Only recently did I try doing a song with all virtual amps, mostly to see what I thought about them, and how far I could take them.  Much prefer the real thing with some old blue Jensen 12" speaker flapping in the air with a mic on them.  Your other dynamic effects are cool too. I find that playing through sounds like that inspire me to "play the sound", which you don't get so much if you are waiting till the end to add cool FX.

That was really nice...    From line to line and section to section I got subtle hints of Eric Johnson, Alan Holdsworth and David Gilmour along the way.   Bluesy, jazzy and tasty.

Hi Steve ,
I'm working on bumping up my melodic and phrasing skills VIA simple story telling ...
I don't want to be the old guy hunched over at the music store in the corner blazing away 64 note Cadenza's .
I think I'm starting to finally hear the light ....

Thank you for the song listen

Nothing wrong with your playing now - excellent and very melodic guitar work.

Good Job!

Sorry I'm late to the party, Kenny, but that's some very tasty playing against a lovely progression.  It sounds like it's in a huge hall, but is still in your face.  It inspires me to pick up my guitar and practice.

All the best,
Lynn
