Interesting some folks think some bugs have been fixed - on this thread Willy at CW says that isn't the case.  Must be a placebo effect!

A bit disappointing.

Too late, I already pulled the trigger! :)  Oh well, it was inevitable.

I'll investigate this "clip trimming" thing when I get home and see if it was actually improved. If not, then I'm highly disappointed in soundsubs for deceiving us all!

Ok, call me crazy, but there definitely seemed to be an improvement with the clip trimming behavior over X1c. Not as good as 8.5, but at least now I don't have to zoom in to trim the ends of clips with short fades on them. There's a "hotspot" for end-trimming at all zoom levels no matter what state the fades are in, and although it can get crunched down to 1-pixel-wide in some cases, this is better than not existing at all, which is how it sometimes was in X1b/c for me....

So, while there are probably no "big" bugfixes in here, I feel like there *is* some minor tidying up, which I appreciate.

Also, you can access the prochannel on frozen tracks now! Yay!

I also really like the sound of the softube knob. Too bad it's not a separate VST :P

YES! That is fantastic news. Order is restored in the universe. I'm still dumbfounded that Cake made that change to freeze the equalizer along with the printed audio in direct opposition to the way previous SONARs instituted a freeze by simply turning off the equalizer.

I already have Z3TA 2 and I already have Fabfilter Pro-G, so I wasn't interested in those expansions.  However, I bought the "standard" expansion and I'm loving the new FX Chain!  This was worth the $49 alone IMO.  That said, the soft tube and synth replacement features will definitely get their use.  Not too keen on the other features - I don't use a notation editor and I never foresee a need to upload directly from Sonar to Soundcloud, since I always run my bouncedowns through Sound Forge as a final step (actually, I wish Sony would add the Soundcloud upload feature to Sound Forge).

Anyway, one small suggestion for improving the FX Chain would be to add the solo/record/write buttons (mute would be useful as well) to the FX Chain window header, like the plugin windows have.

Cryophonik - Just click on the Write button on the track and the knobs and buttons on the FX Chain 2.0 will be automatable.

If you're saying that you'd want them on the FX Chain 2.0 window for convenience, I agree, it would be nice.

My only niggle with FX Chains is more of a browser issue. You can create FX Chain presets, and you can save them (either by right-clicking on the chain in the FX Bin or by dragging it to the Plugin browser), and you can rename them in the Plugin browser, but you can't delete them.

You can delete an FX Chain preset in the Media browser, but the Plugin browser does not update or refresh to show the deletion. The deleted preset is still listed until you open a new project or restart SONAR.

Not that big of a deal, but definitely something that could be cleaned up a bit.

when all the ProChannel modules are used you need to scroll the screen but it only works in that you have to grab the top/bottom most module by it's title bar and drag up or down. What it does though is force you to swap that module to be topbottom most whether that's what you want or not. Is that  how it's meant to work because if it is that sux.
That's not really a scrollable ProChannel the screen just moves because you're swapping one module for another.

I not too sure what you are saying Mike but if its that PC wont scroll that is not true. It will. Also the modules are collapsible.

GREAT STUFF! I love the new Softube Saturation Knob and the PC4K S Type Expander Gate Module in ProChannel Expanded.
The SKYLIGHT GUI seem better and much more snappier too, and it's not a placebo effect.

I upgraded to the Z3TA+ 2 in same bundle...Great stuff..

PROCHANNEL CONSOLE- sound were amazing before the upgrade, now Cakewalk unbelievable have take it one step further...

that's weird because Seth said that there were going to be fixes included in the Expanded update. He alsi said there was no date set yet for when those fixes would trickle down to users who didn't buy the Expanded update. he confirmed that there would be at least one more update for fixes.

As I said the scope of fixes was only relevant to features found in X1 Expanded.   I did confirm that there will be a free update for both X1C and X1 Expanded owners.  From the other thread:

1] X1 Expanded does not include fixes for features outside of the scope of the feature set.  IOW - we're not charging you for fixes for another area of SONAR however some fixes & improvement did go into FX Chains for example to support FX Chains 2.0

2] As Seth said a few weeks ago, there will be a free update available for both X1C and X1 Expanded users that will address reported issues.  I don't have a timeline for when this will be available just yet.

Sorry for any confusion - this can be discussed in that other thread, please keep this one on topic RE: first impressions.

First impressions FX Chains 2.0 - like the bundled presets idea - some nice examples - would be nice to have an easy way to share your home made presets with other users. New look Pro Channel - excellent - like the modular approach Softube Saturation - nice at low level but seems to get pretty aggressive very quickly Soundcloud - a bit pointless - don't really get this one? If I want to upload something to Soundcloud, it's no real hassle to export a mix and then upload later. I know that a lot of users keep their DAW's permanently offline so this will be of little use to most people. Notation - don't use it. Browser - excellent improvements.

You can, the .fxc file also includes all the graphics so if you made some awesome zebra-print backplate you can send it over to your friends as part of the chain.

I opted for the X1 Expanded plus Pro Ch Expander/Gate bundle.   I haven't used the features much yet 'in anger' but can safely say I'm already impressed enough with the changes to post a big thumbs up.   In particular, I'm knocked out by FX Chain 2, it will speed my stuff up a lot and forgotten FX settings should be a thing of the past. Again, though, all the improvements look like they'll be useful.

A very small gripe is that I agree with the poster above who had difficulty scrolling Pro Channel.  Since Pro channel came out I've had difficulty viewing it in Track Inspector, and have had to remove stuff from the display to see it all.  Others posted the same problems in the past and even now it won't scroll - maybe something to do with the computer's display settings.  However, Pro Ch will scroll, and is easily visible, in Console View, so it doesn't bother me too much.

If I have to lose another post because of this "Connection closed by remote server" message, you will hear my scream across the border. I mean it.

I did a little session this morning with the new Expanded version with the PC4K expander/gate. I had some background hiss to clear up on a 6 string acoustic part. I'm impressed with the results. I also did not notice any stability issues after properly integrating both VSTs (Softube and PC4K) in Pro Channel.

I did notice some comments about scrolling issues, so I put it through it's paces expanding/collapsing modules in different screensets. I can confirm that I did not have any problems at all with scrolling (mouse wheel) regardless of the context. It works as I would expect it to, every time.

Kudos to the bakers as I am impressed with this version and especially the potential that this approach offers. I have no reservations in recommending "Expanded". Bravo guys! Me is a happy dude!

Don't have a middle mouse button.
The only way I've been able to get it to scroll is by grabbing the header bar of the top/bottom most module and click and drag. What that does though is swap those 2 modules over because that's also the same way you change the order of modules. I'm open to being taught how to make it scroll but I haven't found it yet.
