Looks to me like you have to add a new Key.

Eeeak, I hate advising folks on this kind of stuff.  Make sure you Export your Registry settings to a place where you can import them again if you foul things up.

F3 found the setting in 8.5 but NOT X1. Interesting that setting doesn't exist in my registry.

Because they didn't think you would need it evidently.  It's supposed to be automatic.  I've got a sneaking suspicion that the installer was supposed to create these entries but it's just a wild guess.

Yeah adding a registry key is way over my pay grade. But it does help to clarify the issue a bit. Why the differences in our registries? We may never know. I re-installed X1 once and upgraded to X1a so it's a fairly fresh install.

And that registry key's all it takes to get that bug resolved? Sloppy.

I'm wondering if with the information Scott G was given about the Export Track Template tool not working as intended if it has been implemented in a different way than it was in the past?  If so, will I need to remove this registry entry in the future as it will interfere with the "new" method, if indeed there is a "new' method.  I'm not greatly concerned as I'm a techie type of guy and I do registry stuff frequently, but just wondering aloud.

Removing a Key in a registry entry is nothing.  I do it a lot during the course of a year.

To add a Key you right click the X1 folder just up the branch there and select "New>Key."  Name it "TrackTemplate Import Settings".  Note that TrackTemplate is not separated.

Then right click the TrackTemplate Import Settings folder and select "New>DWord."  You will name that "UseTrackFolders."  You will set it's value to 1.

Then exit Regedit.

Push comes to shove, you can always delete the key.

Keep in mind that all you have to do is to add the Dwords that you need to include other things like plugins and such.  See my other thread concerning those entries.  Just follow the directions (you don't need to add the Key again, you already have that.)

Dave,

No registry genius here and need to know where to start. Not sure what HCLU stands for.

Here's what my minimized regedit looks like.

Start where?

That's not accurate, expand the folder.

Ahh, a handy registry tweak, very convenient.

Being that there is a known workaround, that can come off the broken functionality list then?..

I wonder if they'll include a compiler in the next release so we can completely customize X1's functionality.  Ultimate flexibility.

Unbelievable!

Doubtless somebody will justify it before long as they like having this feature abstracted to the registry because having a switch that worked would likely cause confusion.

I did read it. You haven't shown what location in the expanded
registry key where you changed the key. On the left the arrow is white, it should be black if the subheadings are to be listed on the right per the folders contained.
