Import MP3

Just finished a project and trying to export in MP3 format.
Have done it before but now I am asked something about Cakewalk encoder upgrade/update?
What is this all about and due to the fact that Cakewalk no longer does any upgrades/development, how can I get
what I need to do the job at hand?

Thank you in advance for any help/response. Greatly appreciated.

which DAW are you using? I think it unlocked circa X3 when mp3 came out of copyright. For previous versions you may still need the unlock file.

I am using Sonar X3 producer.
And how would I proceed if it is unlocked?

    Thanks.

sorry gerry I think it came unlocked in april 2017. you can still integrate the free lame encoder into sonar, i'll have a look for instructions

a more convoluted possibility is that you take advantage of the free sonar home studio offer which should contain mp3 export:

Yes it does after reading this I just opened HS and exported as MP3 no problem.
But that free deal was to end yesterday. it might still be on. Look for my thread in Deals sub forum.

If your stuck what I use most times is Gold Wave because it does batch conversion of any file format.
I'm usually working with a whole album so I assemble the album as WAV 44/16 to burn to CD then Batch convert in Gold Wave to make a folder to upload to Sound Cloud or put on a stick to play in the car.
Gold Wave if a good little wave editor and free to try forever. Made in Canada Eh! I paid the $50 for a lifetime deal because I use it a lot.
