Informal Poll: Navigation Shortcuts That Improve Your Productivity?
This forum is a great place to (unexpectedly at times) find great productivity boosters from other users' posts. Given how "deep" SONAR has gotten with new features/capabilities, progress can sometimes come at a cost of increasingly complex navigation and workflow ( change this view/ resize that /zoom out/in/vert/horz/screensets/Lenses/etc) So I pose this question: What are your "go to" keybindings/shortcuts or methods to ensure that every task is set-up, in focus, and sized/positioned correctly to allow you to go to work on the task at hand? What tricks speed up your actual editing tasks? All ideas welcomed..from simple keystroke combos to complex macros or CAL routines.

I use Ctrl-PgUp and Ctrl-PgDn to advance to the beginning of the next bar or back to the start of the current one. I use this a lot for navigating through projects. Also PgUp and PgDn for jumping back and forth between markers.

I use the left/right arrows to navigate to the previous/next marker. This feels very natural to me and has sped up my workflow more than any other custom setting

One of my faves is 'T' which inserts the tool module wherever your cursor is on the screen. Great shortcut for me when editing.

Alt shift and f6 to select everything to end and control alt and V to force paste special are the ones I use the most. not really navigation I suppose, but really useful shortcuts for me!

no, these are all exactly the responses I was hoping for. I'm always looking to pick up productivity gains so I hope to try ( and steal ) most of these!! Hopefully others will too.

I used to use a laptop with a second display. I kept the Track View on the left and the Console View(MultiDock) on the right. I'm now using a single display. So, my new favorite shortcuts are 'D' and 'Shift+D' Open the Console View in the MultiDock. Press 'Shift+D' to maximize the MultiDock. After that, pressing 'D' toggles between the maximized Track View and the maximized MultiDock.

Funny you should mention that one..easily overlooked. I recently became a fan of a simpler, less "Info overload" view and began leaving the Browser, Inspector and any floating windows or dock views ..closed. Less clutter. Easier to concentrate. In such a case, D, Shift+D as well as B and I become your best friends. It's instinctive now and I don't need to leave all the stuff open all the time.

I could probably think of some others, but these ones really helped once I learned them. - The numeric keys 0-9 for switching screensets.
- numpad 3,6,9 to nudge forward, 1,4,7 to nudge backward
- ctrl+shift+page down, next marker and ctrl+shift+page up, previous marker
- i, open/close inspector
- b, open/close browser

Yes, I forgot to mention those. I use them a lot. Nudging applies both to clips in Track View as well as notes in PRV. Also the 2 and 8 keys in the numpad for nudging up and down (again for both notes and clips).

I've disabled the O key. Having a keyboard shortcut for Offset Mode was always an accident waiting to happen.

Yeah, that's another one I use all the time. I use my MIDI controller for transport functions usually, but still use W to return to the beginning of the project (or looped section) all the time.

Hi:) I use a lot of "Factory" Shortcuts, but for some things I use AHK! https://1drv.ms/f/s!Al2mKojzOW0Mk4dl9uPrMg1snovs5Q This is my Autohotkeyfile for Sonar for things, there's no Hotkey in Sonar! Ctrl + J Opens the Flyout window of the Quad Curve EQ. (Inspector has to be docked on the left side with Prochannel opened and first Compressor and second Quad Curve EQ docked) For other combinations the coordinates in the 2. click option in Gain-Sonar.ahk must be changed! I don't need Screensets 7-10, so I use this for: (Can be changed by changing f.e. 7:: to !7:: for Ctrl + 7) 7 - Decrease gain of selected Audio Clip or Portion by 3 dB 8 - Decrease gain of selected Audio Clip or Portion by 1 dB 9 - Increase gain of selected Audio Clip or Portion by 1 dB 0 - Increase gain of selected Audio Clip or Portion by 3 dB Now my favorite:) : Ctrl + Alt + B Backups the 5 last changed Directories to 2 different target Directories: (Max Dirs and Source and target Dirs can be changed in Gain-Sonar.ahk) Be care to wait until it opens the "finished" window! My Record Partition is R:\ and the targets are B:\Backup-Musik\ and A:\OneDrive\Studio-RecordNAS So I get 2 copies from the last 5 Worked on directories of the Sonar Record Partition. If anyone needs it, just load it down;) Greetz, Bassman.
