Installing Sonar X3, but, install the update instead?

Hi,
Getting ready to install Sonar X3 now, but just saw the update released yesterday, so didn't know if I should install the original X3 and then install the update, or, is the update the entire program anyway so I should just install that and not the original X3 install files that I got when I bought it?
Thanks

You must install the original X3 files first then apply the X3b update.

Hey, thanks so much.

I'm using a small solid state drive and don't have much more room on it. I'm guessing during the install process I can choose a "Custom" install and point the Dimension Pro Samples to another drive?

Also, any other gigantic files that I should/could move to another drive other than the boot drive that I should watch for?

Thanks.

DimPro is a separate installer. IIRC, it allows you to specify the location for the multisamples (it has been a while since I installed DimPro). The same is true with "loops and one shots".   Those are the big ones. There are other smaller sample directories that can be moved with registry edits (see this link for info) or use the DOS command mklink to create junctions to new locations on other drivers.

Bottom line... install X3 first, then X3b...

... and yes, during the install you can elect to install thing to different places...

I have a 240Gb SSD as my main (O/S) drive. Data I often put on another (7200rpm) drive. There "is" a glitch that I found in that X3 made a project folder on my C: drive... even though X1/X2 was assigned to another. In this case, you can re-assign under preferences (in X3)... and *copy*, NOT move those to the other drive... *verify* they work (please), then remove the C: copy.

In ALL cases, protect the integrity of anything you have done (copy elsewhere, etc.). I like the SSD because of its speed, but it *has* had errors/issues (for me) in the past, so I put "data" on a magnetic HD. I used to design/develop for Seagate, so am not confident in SSDs (yet)...

Again, thanks guys. I'm looking forward to installing X3 and the update.
I came from 8.5 and just reformatted my system disk, so it's a fresh install. The only other thing I have is Adobe CC Suite and Sound Forge 9.
I do have Garritan Jazz and Big Band and hope that it goes in without a hitch too. I'm not installing the Kontakt Komplete Suite because I never got it to work that well in 8.5.
Thanks again.
