Intelligent beings of the [cakewalk] world unite!
Over the past few days i have been watching the forum for announcement of X1B. I have seen the clamour - "i want it now", "i want it yesterday" I have seen the nonsense "but i don't want it on a Friday" REALLY?! and [something along the lines of ....] Companies deliberately avoid implementing new software over weekends - if only that were true - i have worked in the IT industry (buyer, seller, programmer etc.etc. for 30+ years and internationally the reverse is true) i don't make my living out of cw, I am an "enthusiast" pour the scorn, yep I know you will. I have used cw since home studio 6 through releases upto X1 producer so clearly i like Sonar - yes it has its problems but as far as i'm aware nobody died! So for the intelligent beings X1B will arrive it will be better (but still not perfect - it's software!) and we will enjoy and engage and be creative. For the rest - even if it downloaded in 24.5 seconds, installed perfectly in 3.2 seconds, configured all of your plug-ins (regardless of which dodgy site they came from) perfectly, played keyboards like Chopin, guitar like Hendrix, interpreted your each and every thought and transformed them into a perfectly mixed song (optimised for MP3, CD, FLAC etc etc) every time and was 100 percent bug free you will still not be content. If using Sonar is your main source of income - did you really adopt X1 immediately without a backup plan - if so you really should know better. If (like me) you are an enthusiast - chill (go play your guitar, piano, mongolian nose flute (delete as appropriate) and have another beer. If, as I suspect most of the more vitriolic complainants are, you are a fan/employee of another DAW provider - get a life for those people with: A - a sense of humour B - a degree of intelligence you will get the point for the others I hope you will be happy spending the next few hours/days/weeks slagging me off, pointing out my numerous character flaws (even though you have no idea who i am) casting aspersions upon my parentage etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum. But, before you embark on your literary masterpiece just remind me one more time - who installed X1 on your PC and then decided that you should use it for your most important projects 60 seconds after completing the first install? Life's a Long Song - so give it your best performance :-)

I actually really like it. It took me a little while to get used to the user interface but once i got to grips with a new look and feel i found it much easier to use. As I said in my post I am an enthusiast and as such I record guitars and bass and use synths for drums, keyboards etc. any loops and clips i use tend to be simple and straight forward - I have used audio snap to "splice " songs/clips together, all ok - the only big frustration I had was related to clip automations causing crashes when being edited/deleted (this is on the X1b fix list) to get around this i just got into the habit of saving my project immediately before and after editing automations - still frustrating but much less painful than losing work.

mikey I think you did a fine job of pointing fingers at everyone here "except" those that released a product that wasn't ready to be released yet. Hows that for humor? ; ) For me the software has just worked with one minor problem - but i don't stretch X1 in the way that many others do so for me the product didn't come out too early, but I readily accept that for some this may be the case. I should also point out that I have huge sympathy for those "pro" users who took the "correct" approach of using X1 on non-critical projects who were then frustrated. I think that these are probably the people to whom we owe a big thank you because I am guessing that they were the rational voices who caused the product guys at CW to sit up and fix the bugs.

There are a thousand ways to make a song...X1 was a great leap forward and your still stuck on the little things "I can't do THIS" well, use your iginuity and creativity and do THAT. I can't believe how negative people are in this forum...X1 works, I make music every day and when I have a problem I work around it...such is life...does life suck? were you "released" to soon? I don't think so...
