Aw man, I wanted a box so bad, and all I got were the DVD's shrink wrapped to a piece of cardboard from Sweatwater.

There's no pleasing me is there?

It's interesting to see that EMI, the largest music publisher on the planet, has matched their X1 Producer closet studio with a $180 large diaphragm condenser mic from China... and a pair of KRKs. Maybe they'll get a SE Reflexion filter to take it to the next level.

Throughout the global history of EMI, Abbey Road has acquired probably the greatest in-house collection of vintage and modern microphones.

In recording, the colour and quality of sound you capture at the source is the most important part of the audio chain. Our collection has a colour for every occasion with microphones representing every stage of development from one of the earliest ribbons designed by Alan Blumlein in the 1930’s to the best releases from today.

All of the vintage microphones still use their original valves and diaphragms and are regularly maintained.

i'm not sure if the SE reflection can fit into their budget though. They might have to cut some salaries in half in order to able to save up for a move like that!

uhmmmmmmmmmm............. nothing?

The 5.1 systems in the control rooms at EMI's *famous* studio all use BW N800s which sold for an easy $8000 per cabinet. And they are passive boxes... so the speakers need ok sounding amplifiers sitting over to the side.

I imagine they have some other speakers stuffed in there as well.

best regards,
mike

Hmmmm....

It's supposed to be a demo studio, right? And a writing studio? It's just equipment people have at home. And you can even find it in pro studios. It's cheaper and of high quality. Both Chinese mics and KRKs (can) sound really good. When EMI decide to make an album with one of their artists I am sure they take them to a high end facility and not a small project studio.
