Is there a sample player or sampler in X1 or 2 that plays the Kontakt samples?Solved
I just downloaded the bolder sound music maker V4 -dulcimer samples for free,which sound imo very nice. http://www.boldersounds.net/music-maker-v2-p-105.html?zenid=vfnd3ghc59od0545dgg981pk03 The requirements are the following:
Full version of Kontakt SAMPLER 4+ required. Will only run on the Kontakt PLAYER for 30 minutes in demo mode.*
Is there a tool in Sonar X1 or X2 that can handle this samples or has any one any idea to workaround ?

AFAIK/ I guess there is no workaround, unless there's a software that can cut those nki-files to plain wav's or other format supported by samplers. Then you should place those in a sampler note by note ( losing the user interface and all included articulation modes etc.).
But as mentioned, I'm only guessing.

I used one from Chicken Systems a long time ago. Here is the link to their downloads page - this is for a free converter. There is also one for one called Extreme Sample Converter, but that one is not free, and there are posts out there complaining about no response from the developer for the past 14 months. FYI, NI limits the "demo mode" for 3rd party samples in their current free "Kontakt 5 Player" version to 15 minutes (not 30). Work fast!

I understand that you probably don't want to buy the full Kontakt sampler right now, but I recently bit the bullet and it opened up a world of free and low-cost samples.
I was less impressed with the content that came with Kontakt than I thought I would be, but that was mainly because I had already invested in a several other sample libraries. The Kontakt content is good. (There are two Kontakt libraries. One is free with the free player and the other is free with the full player.)
To my original point, however, the big thing with Kontakt is all the other stuff out there that won't work with the free player (WaveLore, Bolder, Noise Firm, and 100s of others).

Because they want to make more money. What they did to all of their libraries sold at that time when they released K5 was awful. They made the libraries incompatible with K1-K4.

they do sell kontakt separately for $399. you're thinking the komplete packages, which add more libraries and synths. they are a great bargain. kontakt standalone only comes with the factory library that's been around for years and years. kinda like selling dimension or session drummer without patches and kits.

I am SOOOO sorry I did not look at that link prior to adding it to a post here.

Bob, no reason to be sorry, thanks for your attention. That´s what I found out yesterday, but thought it´s my noobnes and I had not much time yesterday and so didn´t write here. Nevertheless I´m some steps onwardly: 1. The situation now is that I have the choice to work very quick with the kontakt player what I try at first . 2. if that does not work to look for other good dulcimer samples I already tried the free dulcimer of the content club sound bank of my choice . which does not fit at all. The dulcimer sound which fits is the one of the yamaha dx9. 3. to face To buy kontakt 5, means to buy komplete 9 imo. Konrad, thanks for that hind, yes I heard that this is a must not the first time, but there are so much great samples on X1, X2, free content packages aso which I nearly never use (except the drums) and I only need this special dulcimer sound. and Scott,thanks for making it clear, that sonar won´t manage. That is SUCH a bummer.
On the other hand, Komplete REALLY does come with some crazy good synths, in addition to Kontakt.
I wish there was some way I knew of to take those sounds and convert them for you. I will keep looking, just in case.

Come upgrade time or Christmas you can pick up Kontakt for $200. Which I did. Didn't need another rompler so much as some of the off-the-wall libraries like hollow sun etc. were needed. It was a good investment.
My biggest regret (well, w/ NI not in life) was not springing for Komplete. I keep hoping I can pick for less than the regular price because of Kontakt. Nope, they don't seem to care about my wallet. At some point I'll shell out the komplete $400 for Komplete, hopefully w/ the next generation Kontakt. Penny wise and pound foolish of me. I dont' really need more soft synths but ...

You're right. I totally forgot that Kontakt is also a great sampler because I only use it as a library player/editor. So, maybe $150-$200 for new users and $50 for upgraders (K5 didn't improve that much from K4, did it?) And during the half price sale it becomes $25. (Never mind, I just want to say it's sooo painful to pay for the whole K5 library when I already have exactly or almost the same library in K4 and just want to edit libraries only supported by K5.)

Thanks. I just checked the product page and found that the upgrade price from K4 to K5 is about $100 (here we can only display the price in JPY), which would be the price for the application (sampler) if sold separately. Hmm.....not bad, actually

the only other samplers in this class are mach 5 and halion. kontakts price of 399 is very competitive.

Jlien, Thanks. I did not mean to imply that the Kontakt library was anything less than top professional quality. You are right that it is very good.
Since I use mainly use organic instruments right now and already have a number of libraries covering guitar (elec and acoustic), bass, piano, drums, and orchestra, there was nothing there that filled a major gap for me. I do use the Kontakt instruments on a regular basis, though, and I really like them. If someone had nothing but the Kontakt library and a vocal mic, he or she could make great records.
I would like to see them do more in the acoustic guitar area, but with RealGuitar2 and Acoustic Legends, I am pretty well covered. The Kontakt strumming approach is unique, however, and I am going to play with it a bit.

Magix Independence Pro is a pretty powerful Sampler. The free version gives you 2 gigs of sounds to try out. [and worth trying imo] Won't help with Kontakt files. There is the also a paid for 12 gig [basic version] library and the full Pro library about 70 gigs. http://pro.magix.com/en/independence/independence-free.1013.html Garry

I wouldn't put a lot of stock in the free Bolder Sound stuff working correctly even if you buy the full version of Kontakt. Some of the free products seem to be very sensitive to what version of Kontakt you are using. I downloaded one of their free products and tried without success to get it to work under Kontakt 5. I sent an email to support describing the problem... The response was basically (paraphrased): "Well kid, them's the breaks with free samples".

Magix Independence Pro is a pretty powerful Sampler. The free version gives you 2 gigs of sounds to try out. Won't help with Kontakt files, but quite a lot of very good libraries available. http://pro.magix.com/en/i...endence-free.1013.html Thanks for the heads-up, Garry. I tried Independence Free a few years ago when it was still Yellow, but it didn't really do much for me. However, it looks like things may have changed for the better over the last few years, so I'm downloading the free version as a write this... all 2GB+ worth.

If the sample files are in WAV format and you were a dab hand at creating SFZ files you may get somewhere, however if the samples are compressed in to the NCW format you are out of luck. I just checked the Bolder sounds stuff on my drive and its all NCW, however that may have happened If resaved and compressed the samples, something I normally do to save disk space and load times.
Of course converting from one sample format to another is not straight forward, particularly products written for Kontakt which has extensive scripting. Even with a sample converter program like Chicken Systems unless its a very simple Kontakt instrument you are going to loose a lot.

Jlien, Thanks. I did not mean to imply that the Kontakt library was anything less than top professional quality. You are right that it is very good.
Since I use mainly use organic instruments right now and already have a number of libraries covering guitar (elec and acoustic), bass, piano, drums, and orchestra, there was nothing there that filled a major gap for me. I do use the Kontakt instruments on a regular basis, though, and I really like them. If someone had nothing but the Kontakt library and a vocal mic, he or she could make great records.
I agree. Basses, pianos, drums, etc. in Kontakt are a bit weak (guitars are unusable IMO) but overall Kontakt is still the best or one of the best romplers out there (I admit I haven't tried Halion Sonic). I've learned that the more high-end libraries you get, the less time you'll have for creating music, because it takes longer to load samples (  ) and there are more parameters you have to deal with. In fact, these days I kind of think it only takes Kontakt, VI.One (this has better drums, basses and pianos), Nexus (for electronic music), a good pick bass library and maybe EZDrummer (although I don't have it) to make fairly good demos.

Thanks to whomever above in the Thread. I too have investigated & downloaded the Independence free synth. Er, this is not bad at all, in fact I've purchased some add-on discs. Deffo worth a tickle. Thank you.
