ORIGINAL: gnie HotCoollMusicGirl, Reaper has a varispeed function. http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=895489&mpage=1&key=varispeedó®´§ Thanks gnie. :) I was aware of that. In fact I think it was in a recent thread over in the Sonar forum where Reaper's varispeed came up that someone else mentioned that GTP had varispeed, and that's what somehoe led me to this forum. Varispeed is definitely an oh-wow feature. One of the things that makes Reaper so intriguing. Thanks also for the link to that thread. Was interesting. :)

My motivation for mentioning Reaper was its price, but I just discovered they're now charging for it. In fact, my old registered (and barely used) copy has suddenly put me into demo-user status. Varispeed would be a good addition to Sonar.

Marah, I think that GTP3 would easily do vari-speed, sort of. There may be some issues with selecting all the tracks. Yesterday I was messing with changing time signatures and inserting small bits of time, and ran into some odd things. So, I think that you would have to be careful if all you wanted to do was change one track. Also, when I have changed tempo and kept the pitch the same, there is a limit on the number of measures in the clip. So, I think that you could do what you are describing, but it would take a little bit of fiddling to get the procedure just right and not disturb other parts of the song.

Varispeed is not available like you would find in Reaper. It is a bit more involved to achieve the same result and really amounts to digital trickery. Essentially it's the same as in Sonar (I use both). You have to jump through several hoops to get the same net effect.

All- I'm just glad to read the post. I had a female colleague who had to remove herself from a forum due to being stalked and threatened. So, I'm glad to hear that Jessie has left on her own, even though I, like most of you who have posted, will miss Jessie's wit, knowledge, taste, etc. Good luck to you Jessie. I hope you're on your Desert Island listening to Yngwie, Vinnie, Steve, et. al. (P.S. I won't forget that you wanted to hear Vivian Campbell's RitD solo.) Take Care.

I'm not aware of any stalking or threatening that she was subjected to and in any case, I'm certain that she would have been more than capable of handling that sort of nonsense anyway. Steve

If your comments were meant to be derogatory then I can only assume that's typical of a low life like you who would say something like that when the recipient isn't here to defend herself.

ORIGINAL: mcourter In any event, whoever she really is, I admire her knowledge of guitars et. al. Yeah - that's true Mark. I'm no gear buff by a long shot and the threads that she contributed to involving guitars, amps and effects are [were] fascinating to me. That incredible hands-on knowledge, as well as her sense of humour are being sadly missed by myself and most of us in here I should imagine. Steve PS - ERW - if you do still pop in to have a look around, please reconsider your 'resignation' and start helping out again.
