Was luckly enough to meet the man when playing suppoet at a Uni gig back in Ireland in the '70's. He was a wonderful character and I remember the fun in the uni bar at about 3 the next morning...VALE John.

A big loss at only 60 too. A wonderful writer, musician and incredible vocalist. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

I'm sorry to hear this... Especially if it turns out he's the John Martyn who was my friend when I was a student at Berklee.... Does anyone know if he was a student there? We were good friends and did quite a bit of playing and palling around while in classes together in Boston circa 1970-1971... He was a great guitarist and I miss him... Keni

Keni As far as I know he didn't attend Berklee but was local to me in Kent UK around the time you mention, but I may be wrong about the Berklee thing as he moved around a lot at the time...this may help though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Martyn_(singer)
