Hi all, I received the same email today about the sale. Athough I'm tempted to purchase one or two, in reviewing the various kits, it seemed as though these were more or less kits made up of instruments from other kits in the base package. That may be convenient, yes --- but I'd be most interested in kits that had new instruments or different conditions for recording of the same instruments. I want something more than a mere re-arrangement. Has anyone out there made a detailed comparison or have enough experience to give advice to someone looking not only for new "kits" but also new "instruments" so that additional kits can be constructed manually? To answer the probably inevitable comment about which style I'm working with: Many. As many as possible (and this is the whole point). TBD. Percussion. Loud. Very loud. And finally, not so loud. Thanks for any such advice. Regards, Dave Clark On past problems with the "No-Brainer" deal: Yellow Matter simply bungled the whole thing badly. Hopefully they not only learned some lessons, but actually are still working towards improving their business processes --- they are not there yet. Unfortunately, Audiomidi doesn't appear to be doing "due diligence" on their partners' processes either, so they are receiving demerits as well, and justifiably so.

DaveClark but I'd be most interested in kits that had new instruments or different conditions for recording of the same instruments. I want something more than a mere re-arrangement. The kits are all 'treated' differently and that's what makes them unique. The expansion downloads are around 2GBs. I would add that although we joke about the kits sounding the same or not, it's fairly apparent that lots of rock kits for instance will sound similiar. I personally wouldn't buy the works for that reason but everyone has their own agenda. I'm not sure about the new instrument parts as I don't have them. Go through the packs and see if anything appeals. There is one demo track per kit so at least you have an idea of the sound and you can A/B them against what you have.

Downloading 2 now. I wanted the Steely Dan and the Dream Theater kits and they were in two different packs so I got "Classic Rock" and "Metal and More". I Installed EX today for the first time. Pretty painless but I can see how one could end up with problems if you did not carefully follow the instructions. It's working great in the 64 bit Kontakt 4 player. Nets step, which I am not looking forward to, setting up the multi-outs in Kontakt.

One thing you should note Glyn, ol pal, is that ol Steve Slate likes to have his HiHat after his Toms on the mixer. Most folks use the Kick, Snare, Hat, Toms, Cyms, Overhead, Room convention. PS To Papa: I had already got the Essentials 2 and Metal and More through the esounds deal. My new two are the Essentials 1 and the Classic Rock.

Hi SH1, The kits are all 'treated' differently and that's what makes them unique. ... Thanks for your reply. I had already determined what you said about the treatments, and I had already auditioned all of the demos multiple times prior to posting --- I think most experienced folks would do at least some homework before asking for comments from others --- but I do appreciate your taking the time to reply. Still not sure which, if any. With some work, the kits in the original SSD could be adapted to many different uses, IMO. That is what I meant about "convenience" of these expansion kits --- i.e. saving "some work." Regards, Dave Clark

Any one having any problems with username and passwords for file server ? I bought two packs and only 1 file location works. Also - if you rescan DB in Konakt, the new kits should show up, correct? JR

I installed Metal and More first and had to manually locate the samples and re-save the multis, Classic Rock worked fine without any messing about so I suspect "operator error" when I installed "metal".
