I like this tune. I think it sounds really good. Another trick for the accoustic would be to clone the track twice. You can leave it where it is in the pan. I don't know where it is but let's say it's a 60%Left. put one of the cloned tracks at 65%L and the other at 55%L. You can eq the furthest left to be more bassy, the middle one more mid rangy and the one at 55%, trebly. Then mix them till they sound full. You may have to seperate them more or tighten them. Just go by ear till it sounds right to you. Nice one!
Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy. Win 7 x64 X2 Intel DX58SO, Intel i7 920 2.66ghz 12gb DDR3 ASUS ATI EAH5750 650w PSU 4x WD HDs 320gb DVD, DVD RW Eleven Rack, KRK Rokit 8s and 10s sub

Hi Lynn- Listening thru my pc speakers, the tune was sounding really good to me. I particularly liked the vocal harmonies.

Thank you Phil. If it sounds good through PC speakers then I feel that I'm going in the right direction. Guitarpima, your suggestion is a good one. I've used this technique on other tunes in the past. In this case, I was going for the less is more route. I haven't posted it yet, but I added a small touch of tube distortion from ProChannel to add body to the acoustic and boosted the volume a tad. That and other suggestions from fellow forumites have improved the mix. I'm going to wait a few days before I post the remix in order to see if there is anything else I can do. Thanks for the help.

Song sounds good. What did you use to get the "motor" sound at the beginning? It sounds like a washing machine.

Hey, my washing machine has a V8 engine. Actually, it's a stock general MIDI sound effect from my Korg Triton. Regardless, I always arrive at my destination CLEAN. That way I don't have to launder my money. pistolpete Song sounds good. What did you use to get the "motor" sound at the beginning? It sounds like a washing machine. timidi +1

I think that I might remember this one. Whatever changes you made has made this an excellent song. I love the story that the lyrics tell. Very appropriate for the state of affairs that many find themselves in. Good luck with the cd!! Freddy J

Don't recall hearing this before. It's not my absolute favourite of yours, but I think that's just because it's a little more of a straightforward tune for you, whereas you usually have something a bit more unusual / creative going on. Mix is good - maybe snare could be a little brighter. Vox sound great as always. Not sure about the actual motor sound - sounds a little bit cheesy to me, but I guess that's just me being picky.

Thanks, Paulo. It's straightforward because it actually happened to me, and I just wanted to chronicle that period of my life. As Pistol Pete pointed out, the motor sounds like a washing machine, but that's not really important to the song. I can take it or leave it. Thanks for taking the time to listen and respond.

Lynn, I meant musically/stylistically rather than lyrically. There's nothing particularly wrong with that, I guess it's just that I've gotten used to your music having an element or two that is a little unusual and because of that I'm always looking forward to that when I listen to your stuff.
