I just purchased Diamond and Pop / Rock Strings. In hindsight I should have bought Concert Strings II instead of Pop / Rock (In my haste I didn't read the info comparing the two libraries.....certainly not complaining, these prices are awesome! I'll start downloading tomorrow.

cecelius2 I finally got DIAMOND download, unziped and installed. However, when I load solo violins I get a warning that some samples are missing. I found this on the strat full and like solo violins. I checked and for the non violin instruments, I am having no problems. Is anyone else finding some samples missing from solo violin instruments? Here's what I discovered..... If I tried to load 00_violin_instruments within _TVEC_3.1_Instruments I would get an error regarding missing samples as well. I looked at my directory tree and noticed that folders Solo_Strings_1 and Solo_Strings_2 were created during the unzip process. The program is looking for the samples in folders __Solo_Strings_1 and __Solo_Strings_2. I simply renamed the two Solo String folders and all is well. It's important to note that you must add TWO underlines (i.e. __) to the beginning of the file folder to rename. unzipped as: Solo_Strings_1 and Solo_Strings_2 rename to: __Solo_Strings_1 and __Solo_Strings_2 I didn't do anything unusual during the unzip process so I suspect that the files were incorrectly named before being zipped. The installation documentation is also in error as the Solo String folders in the directory tree are shown having one underline only.

I am still downloading*ugh* the Diamond series. The deal was too good to pass up. Right now I am downloading at 1.12mb a second. This could take awhile but I think it will be worth it. I can't open Kontakt until Christmas( well,I could but it would be sneaky) so I can't load or listen to anything until then. I have no idea what TVEC is so I have time to look into this and hopefully all will turn out well in about a month.

Fresh from KVR: After receiving a number of requests from people asking for an extension on the Group Buy dates and more than a few people have shared that they're on a tight budget and may not have the money to purchase in time for the end date of the Group Buy, we've decided to extend the Group Buy from November 25, 2011 at 11:59 PM PT to January 2, 2012 at 11:59 PT. PLEASE NOTE: We WILL NOT be extending the additional 10% customer discount to anyone who registers AFTER November 25, 2011 at 11:59 PM PT. Consequently, if you registered prior to November 25, 2011 at 11:59 PM PT, you must complete your purchase by December 2, 2011 at 11:59 PT to receive your 10% discount or it will expire. All purchases made during the Group Buy extension period must be completed by January 2, 2012 by 11:59 PM PT

Haha! Glyn, thanks to you and everyone else here this GB has been a huge success! I'll share something briefly. Kirk hasn't been posting so much lately due to a family matter he has been taking care of. But he's been there helping people with support, with the promised PayPal refunds for those who joined the GB before it reached 75% and those who took advantage of the extra 10% off deal for past customers (which is only available for anyone who joined the GB by Nov 25, 2011 at 11:59 PM PT at completes their purchase by Dec 2, 2011 at 11:59 PM PT, answering questions and support. Of course, with 498 people (it's probably over 500 by now, but I don't have a new number yet!), there's a lot to keep him busy.

Glyn Barnes I bought before it reached 75% and I got my refund last night Good to hear. Kirk had told me that he expected to be done with them soon when we touched base last night. I know a bunch of people on KVR have posted that they got their refunds earlier than expected. Whenever you do something where you have such a large amount of people all buying during a very short period of time like a successful GB, it takes a ton of work to make things go smoothly from order processing to product delivery and out of everything, those refunds were probably the thing that most concerned me -- as it was very laborious. However, from all reports they've been handled very well and ahead of schedule. Kirk and I also discussed some of the reports people have had about periods of server slowness (honestly, it's only been reported by around 20 something people out of over 500) and was checking with Amazon if anything could be improved. - Peter

I have found a temporary workaround--click "search file directory" and it finds the samples for that session; but once I close Kontakt it does not remember their locations, and I have to click "search file directory" on the next session.

I have had similar problems with other third party libraries. If you save the instrument once its found the samples it should be good in the future. (you may want to make sure you have a copy of the original NKIs backed up somewhere, just in case)

edrummist MarioD I'd love to hear from people who own GPO, Miroslav and other libraries in the same price range as where Diamond now is weigh in on Diamond vs other libraries in the current price range. - Peter I just purchased Diamond and the first words out of my mouth when I started playing it were "Oh my God"! I own and now have put on the back burner GPO4, Miroslav CE, Kontakt’s Orchestral strings and Kontakt’s Sesion Strings. Diamond blows them all out of the water IMO. A super thanks for this "GB/pricing experiment" as it put a pro sounding orchestra into this hobbyist’s hands. Awesome, Mario. That's exactly what I hoped and believed would happen. So, it's great to read a post from someone really enjoying the library so much and your reaction is completely consistent with my own experience. - Peter I too own GPO, NI's Session Strings as well as the full Miroslav Philharmonik and acquired both Concert Brass2 and Diamond last week. OMG Kirk's stuff is the real deal!! Haven't even barely scratched the surface but what a phenomenal gift... the sounds are magical, yet clean and uncluttered by processing, with lots of immediate expressiveness available via the TVEC system/keyswitching. the prices for these wonderfully crafted orchestral tools make truly professional sounds available to all desiring to create... Things this good don't happen very often, Thank you, Kirk... thank you, Peter... BTW...already got word my refund to the 75% level is being processed by paypal... Now that's nice service! peace, Dana

Here's a review from KVR member mchannemann I thought was worth sharing. mchannemann is a professional games music composer who owns several different developers orchestral sample libraries: My view on the Libraries and use: I own Diamond with TVEC 3.1 update, CBII and CSII and here is my feedback for how I use them and what I think of them: CBII and CSII are a great update on Diamonds existing Strings and Brass, and both have their own advantages. I personally like the solo parts of the diamond Violin(Romantic Gipsy) more than its CSII counterpart but it depends on the use and target. The newer strings have a different vibe to them which is a bit less warm than the Diamond recordings. I for one use often both in combination to get the sound I want, with different sharing levels for 1st and 2nd violins and the rest of the orchestra. The TVEC 3 technology is a big step for the playability and usability of the libraries, you can set the attack type, speed, decays and even up and down bow follows for short attacks, very nice for quick runs with double or triple notes. Vibrato control is one of the great features of the library very flexible and to the point you need for your track. The Brass section has great control too, glides, stabs , double and triple tongue all very easy to use. Aside from all that what I love the most is that this library is dry, often libraries are recording wet with a fixed room, and if you compose only with the orchestra nice, but if you work with several instrument groups and different libraries this is bad as different rooms collide and sound unnatural due to that. All in all I love the investment of time and money I put into KH libraries, for any one who is looking for a orchestra library I'd say you should take a very close look on these libraries. Have a go and listen to the demos and try the demo instruments mentioned inside this thread, and if you try them I'm sure you come to the same result and enjoy them as I do.

Thanks to Cecelius2, Vastman and yorolpal on behalf of Kirk and me. This Group Buy has been a huge success because of your participation (what would a group buy be without a group! Haha!), helpfulness to others and telling others about the GB. You've proven my theory that a lot of people would buy pro quality orchestral sample libraries if they were much more affordable. What does the success of the GB mean for the future of Kirk Hunter Studios? Well, I'm certain it means great things for sample users. Kirk and I are going to have meetings regarding potential new libraries following the GB and we'll discuss various models for determining new libraries (I'm proposing using concepts like crowdsourcing -- basically asking customers for their ideas and what they want before making future libraries), the feedback received during the Group Buy and pricing of current and future libraries. I've been asking people for their input on what libraries they want Kirk Hunter Studios to do next -- granted, with more than 500 people form this Group Buy, you're a powerful force and if even 300 people are interested in buying a certain type of sample library, KHS is going to give it serious consideration. Further, if we can get a lot of people to buy a library, like we've done with this Group Buy, we can keep these libraries -- and it's important to understand that orchestral sample libraries are the most costly of all types of sample libraries to produce (individual drum, piano, synth, organ, guitar, bass and percussion libraries are all comparatively cheap and simple to produce) -- affordably priced. So far, the most popularly requested sample library people want to see is a Woodwinds library sampled at a similar level to Concert Brass II and Concert Strings II. Consequently, I invite everyone to use this thread to post future Kirk Hunter Studios sample libraries they'd like to see. - Peter

edrummist Thanks to Cecelius2, Vastman and yorolpal on behalf of Kirk and me. This Group Buy has been a huge success because of your participation (what would a group buy be without a group! Haha!), helpfulness to others and telling others about the GB. You've proven my theory that a lot of people would buy pro quality orchestral sample libraries if they were much more affordable. I would think this would be very difficult to do well because of the types of articulations and the transitions between them required. Quite a challenge.

I'd like to get input from users of KHS libraries on the following ideas, Would you be interested in either or both of the following: (1) A series of video tutorials on using KHS libraries either produced by Kirk Hunter Studios or through an existing video tutorial maker. If this was a paid product for say $39 - $49 USD or so, would you be interested? If yes, please describe what you think what you would think should be addressed in these videos. (2) A series of video tutorials on arranging strings for contemporary music using KHS libraries either produced by Kirk Hunter Studios or through an existing video tutorial maker. If this was a paid product for say $39 - $49 USD or so, would you be interested? If yes, please describe what you think what you would think should be addressed in these videos. Thanks, Peter

How exactly do I add the Diamond library to Kontalt 5? I've unzipped everything correctly but Kontakt doesn't see it. Thanks

Thanks, Peter Peter, I think you should start a new thread on this. This one has many different things going on. I would be interested in a video on using Diamond if it would get in to the more intricate functions as they relate to real players. For instance show how violinist(s) use the bow and how to realistically duplicate that in Diamond. In other words show an instrument’s nuances and then show how to duplicate them in Diamond. I may be interested in an arranging video. I have a very good book, "Arranging Techniques for Synthesists" by Eric Turkel that is my bible when it comes to arranging. A video that more or less follows that book may be helpful. What I would really like to see are the docs to Diamond in book form. I hate PDF docs. I do not have an ereader yet so reading off a computer screen is a problem for me. Even with an ereader I would still prefer a book. If there is one already please direct me to where I can purchase it; I did not see one on Kirk’s site. If there isn’t one I would like this to be a high priority. You may want to get a count of how many would like the docs in book form. Maybe I’m not the only one.

Concert Brass 2--not as big as advertised--well not in Gigabytes that is

FYI--Concert Brass is not 45Gb, more like 15+/-GB. Having said that, this was a pleasant surprise as I was preparing for another week or two of downloading. I went on and bought the Concert Brass 2 because I was so impressed with the sound quality of the samples in Diamond and Concert Strings 2. CB2 is no disappointment, just a surprise to have downloaded it in a two days: The original post on page 1 of this thread has this, but it is not 45 gigs: Concert Brass II ($349 USD INTRODUCTORY SALE PRICE, Approx 45 GB)

@ceceluis2 The specs I have for Concert Brass II are that the approximate compressed file size is 16 GB and the expanded file size is 45 GB. The original post uses the expanded/uncompressed file sizes for each of the libraries.
