@mgh One of the coolest things about this Group Buy is that you can buy and download your product any time at the current discount level and you'll get the difference between what you paid and the final price at the end of the Group Buy refunded to you (minus a minor, couple of dollars or so PayPal fee). I don't know of any other Group Buys that work that way. Instant gratification without having to worry that you didn't get the best deal. - Peter

The Group Buy is now listed at 38 participants, but it's been there for several hours, so I'm guessing it's probably higher and needs to be updated. Anyhow the Group Buy is now solidly in the the 20% discount range and moving towards the 40% discount range (at 100 participants).

The Group Buy just hit 40% off this weekend. If you're looking for strings or brass, you won't find similar quality libraries anywhere close to the current prices.  Still, my guess is that it will hit the 50% off level in a week or so.

I just noticed I also get a further 10% loyality discount as an existing customer. Concert Brass is looking very tempting.

    WOW!

    I own KH Pop/Rock Strings.

So if it hits 75% (85%) for me I could have the entire remaining suite for $262.50.

Very very very very very tempting.

Maybe someone could break this down for me about price ... the way I was reading the price ... if I were to buy everything with 75% off, it would still be over $500 in price.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks,
    Brandon

      249 P/R Strings
      799 Concert Strings
      399 Concert Brass
      549 Doamond
    ====
    1996 * .25 = $499

However, for me, I already own the Pop/Rock Strings which gets me an additional 10% off:

      799 Concert Strings
      399 Concert Brass
      549 Diamond
    ====
    1647 * .15 = $247

Bapu your calculations are not correct.

If you own an earlier product, you get 75% off and then you get 10% off of that price. So, you actually get 77.5% off of the total if you own previous products.

So, for Pop/Rock Strings, 75% off of $249 is $62.25.  Take 10% off of that price and you get $56.02, which is 77.5% off of $249.

    It's still a heck of a deal!

I tend to reach for KH vs NI. I think they are different. KH to me has more edge out of the box. NI is 'softer" to my ears.

Bapsi one more question ...... With the SOLO VIOLIN, is the vibrato embedded in the patch, or is there a non vibrato patch that can add vibrato with a controller?

Would you recommend the string package Bapu? I can't afford alot atm but it would be tempting at that price. Do the ensemble patches suit for the sort of sustained midground sound used alot in modern pop/rock tracks? Using orchestral strings for pop arranges doesn't work so well. :(

The Group Buy has now reached 163 participants. 37 more people and we'll be at the 60% discount level. BTW, if anyone wants to be able to get the libraries free, check KVR, there's an MVP contest and a customer demo contest. The top prize in the demo contest is Concert Strings II or store credit for its value for towards the libraries of your choice. People are posting their original music made using various Kirk Hunter Studios libraries and some of it is quite good (in fact, there's been more than a few posts where people are stating they like the pieces customers are entering better than the demos at the KHS website). Here's a recent submission using Solo Strings I that I absolutely love: http://www.andrevanharen....20string%20quartet.mp3

    Re:Kirk Hunter String/Brass Libraries GROUP BUY - UP TO 75% OFF!!! 2011/10/31 22:57:19 (permalink)
Kirk Hunter just made a major pricing announcement on KVR concerning Concert Brass II.
There was a discrepancy between the price for Concert Brass II listed in the original announcement for the Group Buy and the price listed on the purchase page at kirkhunterstudios.com. Specifically, all of the products in the Group Buy were supposed to be discounted from their list prices, however, Concert Brass II was accidentally listed on the purchase page at a recent sales price of $349 instead of its list price of $399.

Consequently, as several thousand people have been to these pages and more than 180 people have joined the Group Buy, Kirk Hunter has chosen to honor the $349 USD price for Concert Brass II as the starting point for all GB discounts. That means, even before the before taking off the Group Buy discount, you’ll be getting it for $50 off it’s list price.

And yes, there are so many discounts going on for Concert Brass II, it’s getting a little confusing, so let me break it down:

Concert Brass II List Price: $399.00 USD
    Introductory Sale Discount:    50.00
                                              -----------
    Sale Price:                           $349.00
Group Buy Discount:       -   174.50    (currently at 50% off)                                             -----------
    Group Buy Price:               $174.50 USD

If you're a Kirk Hunter Studios current customer, you get an additional 10% off. Here's how it would work for Concert Brass II:

    Group Buy Price:               $174.50
KHS Customer Discount: -   17.46  (10% off GB price)
                                             -----------
    FINAL PRICE:           $157.04 USD

It's virtually certain that this Group Buy will be at the 60% off discount level within a matter of days and it looks very likely that we’ll reach the 75% discount level based on the current rate people are joining the GB.

One of the very unique things about this Group Buy is that you can buy and download the libraries you want today and when the GB ends on November 25, you’ll receive a refund for the difference between what you paid and the final GB price (minus a minor PayPal fee, generally a couple of dollars in most countries). Or, if you’re patient you can simply wait until November 25, 2011 and buy the libraries you want at the final GB price.

Would you recommend the string package Bapu? I can't afford alot atm but it would be tempting at that price. Do the ensemble patches suit for the sort of sustained midground sound used alot in modern pop/rock tracks? Using orchestral strings for pop arranges doesn't work so well. :(

I only have The Pop/Rock Strings. I would recommend them.

If this thing hits 75% I will definitely get the Concert Strings II and maybe the Concert Brass II. That would be a sweet deal for ~$230.

"Using orchestral strings for pop arranges doesn't work so well." Huh? Where do you think strings like cello, bass, viola and violin come from, if not an orchestra? Do you really mean that you're only looking for solo strings (which are part of any orchestral strings sample library and commonly sold separately too) as opposed to full string sections?

Orchestral strings libraries such as Pop / Rock Strings or Concert Strings II (basically, Pop / Rock Strings is a light version of Concert Strings II) include both string sections and solo strings, just like an orchestra, and both have been used in tons of Rock/Hip Hop/Singer-Songwriter/R&B and other popular styles of music from bands like the Beatles (well George Martin tended to use smaller string groups, so solo strings would likely be your thing if you're looking to emulate Martin-esque string arrangements), ColdPlay, Lady Gaga, Goo Goo Dolls and others. If you check the Kirk Hunter Studios website, you'll find endorsers include musicians who've done strings, and/or keyboards for Josh Stone, Kelly Clarkson, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, American Idol, Billy Joel, David Archileta, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Joe Cocker and others (one of my old favorites, Kerry Livgren, who wrote most of the classic Kansas songs and continues to write songs for the band).
