Kontakt And X1 -Solved!!!-
So is anyone else having problems with Kontakt in X1?? My issue is that all of kontakts controls freeze when opened in X1, and also it has to search for the sample folder every time I load a kit from SSD or any other library? Now I have found that when it is in the Multi Dock the controls work fine but it will glitch and pop the audio when in the multi dock. And its not just Kontakt it also did it with the Vintage channel, the controls didnt work when floating which I thought was really weird.., But not Waves plugs?? So anyone else know of this, is this a bug? Maybe someone could try to reproduce it for me I also was using the step sequencer in this setup for triggering the drums maybe that's a factor? This is in XP3 Im gonna try it on my Win7 machine next... Kontact version 4.0.52 Update: X Ray windows is what was causing Kontack to freeze up.. I unchecked it and all was good...

Kontakt 4 is up to version 4.2.2 now. You might want to update.

Yeah, I know but it works fine in 8.5, PT9 and stand alone. And I don't have the net on my DAW so its a pain, But I will ultimately do that..

yes, I had this problem as well. actually, X1 would crash / freeze completely without a minidump. tech support said that cake had an issue with kontakt pre-4.2.2 regarding stability. my winxp system with X1 and kontakt would crash this way - win7 did not, but the NI Service center did not have updates available for winxp past 4.1.3, win7 updated kontakt to 4.2.2. I suspect that was the problem - I've had no crashes on win7 with kontakt 4.2.2 on X1

I'm not sure why but NI Service Center would not say that I needed the 4.2.2 update and left me at 4.1.3 as the latest. and of course the NI Service Center was updated to the latest also. I just checked it again about a week ago at the request of cake support and NI Service Center still said 4.1.3 was the latest for my system.

Here's info from the NI support forum: Hello everybody, The 4.2.2 update for Kontakt and Kontakt Player is now available for download via the usual channels. Below is the list of changes (some of which only apply to the full version of Kontakt). Regards, Thomas --- New and improved features: - New binary file format for increased saving/loading performance
- New zero-latency convolution engine with optimized performance
- Revised master output section with presets and advanced macro functions
- Additional import formats
(Akai MPC 5000, Alesis Fusion, Drumagog, Korg Triton, Roland Fantom, Yamaha Motif) - Numerical parameter value input via keyboard
- VST plugin operation under Mac OS X 64bit
- Rex import under Mac OS X 64bit
- Startup and shutdown time in plugin mode improved
Fixes: - Performance issues with mono samples in HQI interpolation mode fixed
So - I'm definitely running 4.2.2 on my XP 32bit system. You can always do a direct download from the Update area on the NI site if you don't get it via the Service Center.

Hey, Billy, if I were still using my winxp / X1 system I would definitely update it manually, but I only keep that hard drive on my system for emergency backup if something goes wrong in win7. I think i've got everything reinstalled on my win7 drive now, and X1 has been stable there. thanks.

also, you may want to try changing the multi-core settings in kontakt? some hosts do it better if it's left to them

my point was that 422 didn't exist when x1 was released, so how do they pinpoint that version, but furry muff, let's just say then that i have an issue with x1 stability

I said cake had a problem with PRE-4.2.2 kontakt. in other words they had a problem with kontakt with some versions before 4.2.2 came out. 4.2.2 was supposed to have fixed some stability issues that cake reported, according to cake tech support.

no, I don't know - like you said it wasn't listed in the fixes from NI, but cake tech support seemed to think that it addressed the stability problems they had reported.

Running K4 4.2.2 (and earlier versions) under X1 and X1a on WIN 7 all 64x. Someone mentioned about turning multi-core support off in Kontakt while running in a host. I think that is correct... the mutli-core setting used to be for stand alone.... don't know if that is still the case now though but I would try it if you haven't already. Jim

Updating NI Kontakt has been a huge pain, The download was hard to find, then I couldn't log in, And the PC I wanna update has no net connection (cause its a dedicated DAW)... Its easier just to reinstall everything...which still takes for ever ever considering all the third party stuff has to be reauthorized as well, I been at it all last night and today... Its a free player I mean why does it have to be so protected....
