Razorwit M@ B Razorwit studiofreak This is true. But as far as I can tell, Heat is HD only. I would really love to know how the new pro channel compares to its modeling counterparts like UA and Waves? I'm thinking about doing a quick test using the new Pro-channel in 1176 mode vs the UAD-2 1176 plug vs a real 1176. Ditto for the SSL comp mode and my real SSL bus comp. Not sure when I'll get to it but I'll post results if anyone is interested. Dean hello, i pulled this thread out from a search and was really hoping to find the post with the a/b/c comparisons. unfortunately, the thread is a cliff hanger... i am especially curious to know this since the release of the t-racks 1176-type plugin. any chance of anyone following this up? i bet a lot of people on the forum would dig it. thanks. edit: or maybe this has already been done in another thread? if so, i couldn't find it. thanks again. Hi M@B I threw together a quick comparison for you. Quick drum loop, dry and then compressed using PC76, UAD1176, IK Black 76 and a hardware 1176. All have peak volumes within .2db of one another to try and avoid Fletcher-Munson problems. I tried to have all the compressors show about 4 db of deflection on the VU's, but to try and keep somewhat consistant sounds the hardware and IK unit had to have a bit more and the ProChannel less (the ProChannel feels MUCH more sensitive...4db of compresson on the PC seems like a lot more compression than the others). Just for fun I also was playing with A/B'ing tube saturation last night on a kick drum. I used both the type I and type II ProChannel emulations and then a chameleon labs 7802 for an example of a real tube. I didn't pay as close attention last night to levels, so you probably want to adjust them yourself before doing an A/B. 1176 samples here: 1176 Tube samples here: tube Dean

M@ B thanks for posting back on this one, i noticed you even managed to include the new t-racks 1176 in the comparison. they all sound pretty close to the hardware. the ik sounds very close imo. i hear what you're describing, the pc76 sounds slightly more compressed, but still very good imo. in this comparison of a drum loop, the pro channel held it's own and i feel no need to get another 1176 plug in. the la-2a however, i will be looking into. the tube saturation links, typeII sounded closer to the hardware to my ears. thanks for those too. when i click on the "M@ B" link, it shows a blank screen that says "bad request." haha lol. i don't know what's happening there. how would a computer know that about me? just kidding. thanks again.
