LAZY SUE - ONE MORE TIME - DRUMS

Hey I finally got this DTX400 electric drum kit setup the best way I can triggering the drum kits in Addictive Drums .
I also had alittle more time to practice using this kit , the kick pedal isn't easy to work with like a standard kick pad & pedal .
As a entry level electric drum kit and with this cheezy kick pedal I think I did a fairly decent job adding drums to the whole song I created months ago when I first posted it .

How does this kit sound to you using addictive drums , ALL NEW VERSION !

    Hey, James,

The new drum pads sound really good with Addictive Drums!  I can almost swear that I hear a squeaky kick drum pedal, just like in almost every cover band that I've been in. :)

Great work on this nice smooth song!

Thats ok , I know whats happening around here ! As the oh saying goes if your not buying CAKEWALK PRODUCTS then your not welcome around here anymore !

I was hoping to get some feedback mostly with my drum mix & sound not so much my playing .
As for my playing I'm not doing too bad considering I haven't been playing steady for lets see over 12 years .
Yea thats when I sold my last electronic drum kit , that kit was a much better Yamaha electronic drum kit . I also had a very nice Yamaha Mid priced acoustic kit .

    very interesting work.
its got some great passages and very original

it is playing with my head though,im not sure if the shaker is completely on time or not  :)
its a little loud in the mix, just a tiny bit.
i will say one thing here, you have some really powerful hooks man that pull the listener right in.

the drums are very original and sound really good.
you could always quantize that shaker track to set it right in the groove.
shakers can be so hard to set in a mix because of their frequency's,they tend to stand right out there with no bullet proof vest on,meaning you can hear any flux in tempo.
i just listen to it again(2 times now) and i cant tell,it sounds better the second time(the shaker)...lol.

i really like the hooks in this song like i said earlier.

Hi Bob thanks , its taken me over a week trying to get used to this kick pad & pedal that was part of this enrty level drum kit . Its hard to get double beats out of it but with alittle luck I'm finding that sweet spot with this pedal . Theres like zero adjustments with tension so you deal with it as is , sometime in June I plan on upgrading the kicl pad& pedal to the standard kick pad and a kick pedal . I'll be able to work with it much better when that happens , right now my money is going for a new electric guitar so I can get started learning how to play that instrument . Figure its going to take me a few years of steady daily practice to be able to play fairy good  . But hey if I start now I'll only be 62 years old ! A rockin old man with dreams of making it big before he drops in his grave ,  hey I hope to be a hundred before that happens ! LOL

Oh that sound your hearing must be from something else , maybe my heart beat trying to keep time ! LOL

    Thanks Bob - James

Hey thanks , that shaker I could get rid of because you might be right I'll check
    that out tommorrow .
This was a song I created three months ago or so , its a good song to practice my drumming with after all these years of not playing at all . I'll see
what I can do with that shaker thing I added from Reason 5 , right now my
electric kit is a five piece and I thought about making it a four piece kit .
Doing that I would be able to turn one of my hanging toms into my ride cymbal and use the cymbal ride pad turn that into another crash cymbal .
This kit is easy to work with if you want to change the drum mapping , still
fine tuning this kit see what happens tommorrow .

Thanks for the comments on the over all drum sound - James

James, read your second post in this thread... maybe that is why people are not commenting on your music. I was about to.. then I read that... and now I do not want to. Get a grip man. It has nothing to do with cakewalk. Nobody here much gives a (bleep) about whether you are using it or not when you are playing with your new drums. And frankly, your personal issues... should stay that way. I know... next your are going to say I hate you and blah blah blah... nonsense. If I disliked you, I would ignore you.

Yea after 12 years of not playing my timing is not like it used to be PLUS if you look at the kick pedal I have to work with thats the biggest problem .
    http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DTX400K/
A drummers kick pedal has everything to do with timming if you know anything about drumming but hey I did the best I could with what I have to work with after all this is a entry level drum kit I'm playing on not a PRO set of drums with a good adjustable kick pedal but thanks for pointing it out !
I don't thing its sounds that bad , if I practice some more using cheezy kick pedal then maybe I can work some of those slightly off timing issues you so openly pointed out .

Thanks for your comments , I'll see if I can't fix that just for you ! Maybe if I play barefooted maybe I can get those double beats I tried to get out of that kick pedal . LOL

I pointed it out because your drums sounded off 2 me.  Sorry--- I didn't call you by your real name ----Neil Peart

HOLD ON LITTLE JACK RABBIT ! Sorry if you took my comments
as an insult toward you and your comments .
I was simply trying to say in a NICE way this drum kit isn't a PRO
electronic drum kit its a entry level kit with this kick pedal thats
hard to work with when trying to play complex beats between
patterns and fills . The spring tension there is none , this kick
pedal is something made for a kid to learn on playing very
basic simple beats on the bass drum internal pad built into
                           this kick pedal .

I wasn't mad , I did say thanks I do plan on playing it over again
and try smoothing it out in those places where the timming
seemed alittle out of time .
This is a great song I created to practice with , haven't played
in so many years and its slow enough to work myself back
to where I was when I stop playing back in 1998 . Thats
when I sold my last Yamaha electronic Pro drum kit .

Sorry you got the wrong message from reading my comments
when I replied back to you .

Have a nice Day ! James

James, don't be discouraged.  Once you get used to playing this set, I'm sure you'll be as fluid as you want to be.  I applaud anyone who can play drums instead of programming them on a keyboard controller like I do.  You always have a way of connecting the dots in the end.

Hi Lynn thanks  , I just finished replaying this song and fix some of the timming issues . I'm starting to get uesed to using this cheap kick pedal sort of .
Anyway heres the updated new version I just now updated on SoundClick , I got rid of that odd clapping sound that was off of time plus I turned my kit from a five piece set into a four piece set . I'm now using one of the hanging toms as my RIDE cymbal , I turned the cymbal ride into another crash . Now I have two crash cymbals and one ride where the second Tom was .

    Heres my new version .

Thanks for the listen and comments , having a blast playing drums again .

Hey I just finished replaying this song again to smooth it out some getting rid of some small off time areas .
Starting to get adjusted using this cheap kick pedal , anyway I added another crash cymbal to my kit deleting one hanging Tom turning that pad into my Ride cymbal so what your listening to now is my four piece kit instead of the five piece kit .
Adjusted the volume levels on my cymbals and raise the volume up a notch on my highhat .

Heres the updated new version .

YOUR OFF , DON'T NEED YOUR OFF THE WALL COMMENTS !

What a complete and obnoxious little clown you are. You ask "how does this kit sound to you?", I answer, and you go ballistic. I would feel sorry for you if you weren't such a jerk about everything.

Go away, James. You add nothing to this forum other than your utter narcissism and pathetic self-regard.

My Roland kit didn't come with a kick drum pedal. I had to buy my own. I bought a nice, DW 3000 dual chain, double kick pedal for only $200. Here it is...check it out.
