I think they should allow drugs in sports. I want to see the Cocaine Bobsleigh and the 1500m PCP relay.

A confession could land him in prison. I'm real curious about what made him decide to spill the beans, and how he plans to fight the charges he's open to now. Makes no sense.

Yeah I'm also confused as to why he chose to give a world exclusive to a show with a turnover in the hundreds of millions. Perhaps they paid him in Reece's Pieces?

I guessing he just got tired of lying about it. That and doping is probably wide spread, in the sport. He can rat people out  and cut through some legal stuff or make deals with that.

Or he's just nuts. I dunno.

We put to much idolization into sports people and Hollywood celebrities.  We should put zero in. Most of them are ****s.

Look up.......that is who you should be praising and calling great.

He probably made a deal with her to pay for his lawyers when he gets nailed in exchange for his story.

She is a billionaire after all. What's a 10 million in lawyer fees and judge payoffs to her when she's already made that much in the time it took me to type this post.

You are totally correct Zungle, ol pal.  The Livestrong Foundation is an incredible entity and, hopefully, will continue it's very beneficial work.  I hope that everyone understands the difference between both the organization, Lance's heroic battle with cancer and his now tainted record in cycling.  No matter what one might think of Lance now...Livestrong should continue to grow and fight this awful malady.

Saw more on the news tonight. Now they are saying that he might not have confessed and Oprah leaked the story in an attempt to boost the ratings of her failing network. Looks like we have to wait for the interview to air.

If he is guilty I want to know how he passed hundreds of screening tests. I have a pal who's big into cycling and he has a theory that's very much in line Straumy's earlier comment but the idea gives me a chill. His ball was not alone, it had a friend.

I truly wish his organization well but I also feel for those that never got to compete because the dopers took all the top spots. Really sad to see a guy going down in flames. It's not like his sponsors were in it for the greater good of man, it was all about the money. Now that they smell blood in the water they want more money, but this time from Armstrong.

Kids need hero's. When I was a kid we had astronauts, now kids get seal team 6. They're getting ripped off.

    What does Livestrong actually do?

They have rarely actually funded Cancer cure research, the primary mission of Livestrong is to counsel people who have cancer and to encourage them not to give up hope.

They are most well known for raising Cancer awareness and for promoting a message of positivity... but they have done very little to help cure cancer and indeed some of it's critics point out that they have diverted enormous sums of money from the American Cancer Society which does fund cure research.

Livestrong has recently partnered with ACS in an effort to repair their reputation as a foundation that squanders enormous sums of cash on festivals, parties, and events that are meant to encourage people to feel great about having cancer.

This way the organizers can continue to make millions of dollars running a non profit under the presumption that they are actually being a helpful part of the battle against cancer.

Luckily, this is all public record... so people and corporations can choose to donate money so that Livestrong can throw another hi profile party or they can donate money so that the American Cancer Society can help people with cancer actually find something to feel great about.

    best regards,
    mike

So...  If everyone in the Tour De France really was doping, then wasn't it still a level playing field and Lance was the best?

One obvious concern is that the people who do not have the budget to hire Dr. Ferrari or his proteges don't have access to the proper medical information or expertise.

Over a dozen professional riders have died trying to stay level by using the same drugs without adequate supervision.

Countless amateurs have made the same mistakes and ruined their bodies potential to ever be competitive.

Many amateurs were used as guinea pigs when these drugs were tested and left with lifelong health issues.

Many low level riders who tested hot were simply thrown out of the system. They were used by doctors to experiment with ways to administer dosages and techniques in an effort to learn how to beat the screening tests. Many of these riders didn't even know they were taking drugs. The most expensive doctors will help you beat the tests. They have great experience and have they left a lot of people on the side of the road while developing their expertise.

There is a legacy of carnage left behind by the industry that promoted drugs in competitive cycling. It's a big long scar.

The guys with the good money are the ones who take the drugs and rarely get sick or caught.

The drugs have not leveled the playing field... they have created a disparity that is wider than at any time in the history of sport.

The worst part was having witnessed it enter the amateur ranks and ruin our sport. The true gentleman and women simply drifted away and left the sport to the ruination brought on by a culture of shallowness and winning at any cost. In the 70's and 80's it was self correcting... the drugs ruined the athletes and they disappeared from the scene after a brief moment of glory. By the nineties the drugs and dosages were working real real good... and that ruined the entire sport to the profit of sports marketing empires.

    best regards,
    mike

    Hi,

I thought that he was a total jerk, when his relationship with Sheryl Crow, went south ... her lyrics and work, are not dishonest, and he obviously could not even fess up to her ... and she probably wanted out!

The bad part of the whole thing, is that he put together a massively good thing, that some folks are going to tear down out of their own hippocritical ideas, and not handle the kids and folks that really need it. In the end, I'm not sure this is about him, so much, as it is about folks that were more interested in hurting people, than they were in fixing the issues.

This kill and maim society is down right pathetic ... kill and destroy ... so you get to hide your own sin ... I'm so sick of it! These bastards are ugly and then some, and the worst scum I have ever seen, and Lance was not any different than all of them!

And Oprah does not rock! ... she just knows where the money is! And how to go after it! How a propos considering the whole thing! So if you want to be a prostitute to money and ratings, go ahead!

Thanks for hipping me to Livestrong, Mike.  I'm sure that what they do...do is very beneficial to those patients else they wouldn't be so highly regarded.  But I had no idea they played no role in cancer research or cure.  They are still recieving a good bit of positive press most of which is geared to separating the organization from Lance.  As a cyclist who is more familiar with the sport and possibly Armstrong in particular do you think Livestrong is a worthwhile organization?
