Last song of the year, and it's a beauty. Very nicely played and mixed. One of my Christmas favorites. Thanks for posting it. Meanwhile, I have to admire your ambitious goals, Herb. Getting myself to finish song 'ideas' into finished songs just seems to get harder every year.

Wow Herb...how did I miss this?! So sorry brother! What an awesome piece! Totally loved the mix and agree with James and Randy on this. That fiddle was so impressive I thought it was Scotty. LOL! This song reminds me of my first crush on a girl in 1st grade. Hottest lil girl in the school came out for our Christmas show in school and played this on piano while a few others sang with her. I never forgot this song as it was the first time I had ever heard it. Still reminds me of her to this day. She became my lil girlfriend until the end of second grade and ditched me for my best friend. Ah broken hearted at 8! Hahahaha! Great everything on this tune though...awesome sounds and arrangement. Definitely one of your best all around pieces here. Really well done all across the board man. Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing this gem with us. :) -Danny

Hi Herb, What an oddly interesting mix and arrangement. I had to listen again because the offset rhythms threw me the first time. (in baseball parlance, was that a deliberate or fluke curve ball?) I can't get here too frequently so will have missed some things but I did listen a few times to your second collaboration(?) with the young, female vocalist - although it was several weeks after you posted it and, like others had commented, I could hear there had been a positive development in her delivery. Call me a nosey beggar if you like but I think (am sure) you mentioned sending some sample tapes off to Nashville - did you get any feedback? I hope you did but am aware that you have also acknowleged the obstacles with which that particular path is strewn. Anyway, you enjoy your break and I'll look forward to listening to your 2012 projects. Regards, Vincent

Vincent: the song was deliberately put together as it is. It felt natural to me, although you might hear it as a curve ball... to use your words. Cassie is learning and improving and we continue to work on some things together. She's working on her first writing/co-writing experience with me & Pat now. Her comment after a 2 hr session to try to simply write a verse and chorus was.... I didn't think it would have been this difficult. Nashville, yes, I joined NASI recently and sent a few tunes in for critical review by some of Nashville's hit writers. Needless to say, it is a high bar in Nashville, however, the reviews came back very encouraging. I had asked for a no holds barred review. Give me the truth and they did. More work is required in a few areas, but now, with the help of those folks, I can identify the weak areas in my writing and production. Yes, you are correct. The path to Nashville recognition is a hard one, but writers who persevere and learn from their mistakes, can and do overcome those barriers. Thank you for listening to the song.
