Latency when replacing drums

Hi all..ive got a full project almost completely mixed...24 tracks /loads of plugins etc..and i want to replace the drum loop with drums from the Steven slate SSD4 player ..problem is there is a lot of latebcy which makes it impossible to play in time.
ive got an intel i7 ,8 gig ram  (just enough ) fireface ufx ...it happens wether i increase  the buffer size  or not..is this normal? is there something i need to be doing?

Thanks

Hi. Try to freeze the tracks with fx, and then lower your latency in Preferences before playing/replacing the drums.
It should help. You are using the RME ASIO drivers, I hope.
    All the best.

    probably

how do i temporarily disable plug ins to find out if any are the problem?

Bypass all effects using the FX button in the Mix Module or keyboard shortcut "E"

While reading about the FX button, check out the PDC button

There is a bypass option for each FX rack too in their context menu

OK so i updated to 8.3 which has the global fx bypass and the PDC switch.
I am pleased to inform you that preliminary tests have shown the timing (latency) is returned to normal when i disengage the PDC...so it must be a plug in (obviously) which one? i may or may not determine depending on wether i can be bothered (theres lots of plg ins)...anyway thanks for the help ...

There is no easy way to find PDC for particular plug-in of FX chain, at least not in Sonar.
Also PDC can be particular settings dependent.

There are at least 2 "homemade" solutions for that:
    * http://forum.cakewalk.com/A-free-plugin-to-show-PDC-Info-the-delay-that-each-plugin-introduces-m3411418.aspx
    * open your Sonar project in REAPER (using ReaCWP extension). REAPER can display complete information about PDC (you will need to configure plug-in paths in REAPER, the rest is irrelevant)

Sonar 8LE -> Platinum infinity, REAPER, Windows 10 pro
    GA-EP35-DS3L, E7500, 4GB, GTX 1050 Ti, 2x500GB
RME Babyface Pro (M-Audio Audiophile Firewire/410, VS-20), Kawai CN43, TD-11, Roland A500S, Akai MPK Mini, Keystation Pro, etc.

Alternatively, if you play better hearing all the effects in, just Bounce the mix to a new track, then mute the individual tracks and bypass their effects (or archive them even, which bypasses effects and mutes them). Then track your new stuff. When you're done tracking, mute the bounced full mix and unmute the individual tracks and un-bypass the effects. Back to mixing.
Sometimes all effects off isn't quite as inspiring!
