Lifetime upgrades and monthly subscriptions

I purchased a lifetime upgrade option for sonar platinum in July, cakewalk still continued to take monthly payments in august and september.  Am I missing something or was the life time upgrade sharp practice?

Windows 10 64bit
Intel Core i5-4460
CPU @32Ghz
16gb ram
2 x 500 gb 7200 rpm hard drives
