Loving Sonar
This probably sounds corny, and I'm well aware than lots of forum participants come here to get help with problems. I just gotta say that I really enjoy Sonar. I've recently done some work on anther DAW and I did enjoy it, especially once I got the workflow down. I'm sure I'll be doing more work on it. But coming back to Sonar makes me appreciate it even more...very cool stuff here. Donny

I agree. Sonar is very easy to use. I’m staying with it even though it does have its quirks. Take and automation lanes are two that bother me but I have work arounds so they are not show stoppers. Also I don’t post much but I have solved most all off my problems from the expert advice given on these forums. I want to thank all for that. There are a couple that I can not repeat so the problem for those most likely was me. PS – why is it that when someone leaves they have to make a big deal out of it? Why not just go?
The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better. I'm one of the folks who's been pining for the release of X2b, but the reason I want it so badly is that I love SONAR. The desire for a few bug fixes doesn't change that basic fact. I use it every day and am happy with it every day. Cheers!

I also agree with most everything said. Working on some projects right now that help me realize I am "just now" starting to get the real impact of all the changes made since X1. I wanted to learn the new way, so I forced myself to abandon all my previous work flow techniques and start anew. It's taken a while but I am really starting to enjoy this again, because my work flow has sped up and I can concentrate on what I'm doing instead of how to do it, this way, or that way, or ..... I never thought I would use the ILPRV. Just saw no use for it. Well I have found a use, and it works damn well!! Along with the smart tools I can work on midi drum tracks like I never did before. Started really getting into the Pro Channel. That thing is sweet. I like it better than the fx's bin that's for sure. And now that I know what all the major key bindings are, I have taken the next step and created my own again. And now it's really going to town! Working nicely. I am starting to use screen sets as they were intended to be used. I just wish they'd fix the bug about the drum pane collapsing every time you switch screens. But other than that, they are truly a wonderful feature of Skylight. And I agree so much with Mario, why do they still do this? I say you wannna leave? Leave. Leave us alone as you walk out the door!! : )

I'm with everyone here. I enjoy Sonar a lot.
I started with Sonar 6, and found it a huge shock when the X series came along. It took me w while, but ended up loving X1.
X2 is even better. I've had to use X1 a couple of times recently, and it really brought home how much X2 improved on it.

Same here. I just bought Studio One Pro, and Pro Tools 11 and I Am bummed that they don't have layers like my SONAR install. I also learned that I will probably never, ever, try to use Audio Snap again. best regards, mike

I have used every major DAW over the years, and Sonar is defintely the easiest to use IMHO...it's like an old-school tape deck, and very intuitive. I use it professionally, and it has always been rock solid. I think most of the chronic complainers on this forum have never tried using other DAW's on a professional level, because believe me, they all have their share of bugs (and yes, Mac's crash in front of clients too). The funny thing is, Sonar is so far ahead of the game when it comes to features that we all take for granted. For example, Logic Pro X just announced the ability to group tracks into folders LOL!! And Pro Tools 11 (which has an entry price of $700) now has offline rendering and 64bit support....now THAT is funny!! I use Logic as well for film scoring, but Sonar is my "meat and potatoes" DAW that I can always count on. You made an excellent choice!

I too am EXTREMELY pleased with Sonar, both for its functionality and for its stability. Please note that I had made a deliberate choice to set up a system with lots and lots of memory and a fast CPU, AND that I deliberately stopped using 32-bit plugins in 64-bit Sonar. With those 2 sets of changes, I literally have not had a single X2a crash. I did install 32-bit X2a for when I need to do things with 32-bit plugins, and that too has run with zero crashes - I just keep my 32-bit and 64-bit effects and instruments associated with either a 32-bit or 64-bit installation of Sonar. It just works, and does so every time I use it. Bob Bone

This seems pertinent to the enjoyment of SONAR. I think I must be trying to use mics and guitars with it too often... which has lately left me with the impression that a lot of the features I use don't work as well as they do in the programs that the features were copied from. :-) best regards, mike

I very much enjoy the GUIs that automatically extend the MBT grid lines from top to bottom in the track view. It's a multi step process to go find the place where you can trick SONAR in to displaying its MBT pool. In the DAWs I have purchased recently it is just part of the normal display and that has been a big improvement to my work flow. best regards, mike
