Agreed.... nice tune. I noticed you used Jamstix.... I really need to work with it again.... I go through phases working with different things...and I like what JS did in this tune. The mix is good...... I might bump the vox a few db higher.... not too much. The current low level lends itself to this quite well.

Thank you Herb for you time and comments. I often use a mixture of Jamstix, Superior Drummer, and Session Drummer on my tracks. Jamstix is one of those very affordable gems that a lot of people don't know about. As mentioned earlier, the vox will come up a tad on the next pass. It's always good to hear from you.

I can't think of a single thing I don't like about this song. Everything is just right. Narrative tension, perfectly placed instruments to convey the feel of the song. Love the guitar. Love the bass. great vocal and harmony. And a terrific mix. Inspiring work. Mark

Lynn, you keep coming up with new stuff. I agree with Malcomb that the voice could be louder, or more present in some way. It's a good vocal and should be heard. As I listened it seemed that it was more present sometimes than others. Maybe some envelopes. I don't know buddy, it seems that later in the song the vocal is louder. That could also be personal ear problems. LOL. No matter, this is a really well done and well written song.

Mark, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your comments. Thank you for taking the time to listen. Warren, I'm going to address the vocal shortly. Envelopes may be the way to go, as you suggest. Thank you so much for having a listen and helping me with this production. It sure helps to have friends like all of you because this wouldn't be half as fun otherwise.

Seem to have missed this one somehow. Has a Peter Gabriel vibe early on which I like. Effortless sounding vox as usual .The ending threw me a bit. Might take a few more listens for that to grow on me.

Janet, thanks for having a listen and your kind comments. I'm especially pleased you liked the percussion because those parts took longer than all of the others combined, and I programmed them myself. BTW, I love the new mix you put up for your new song. Paulo, I'm glad you found this and took the time to comment. As for the ending, it's growing on me, too, although it could change in a heartbeat if I think of something better. I can tell you that I've already thought of several endings not nearly as good. There will be a new mix of this very soon to address the volume of the lead vocal that has been mentioned several times. So beware.

I thought the random riff ending (that totally didn't fit anything else in the song) was an interesting twist. Perhaps it was a chance for the cat using the ARP Odyssey 3 as a litter box to show his stuff. There were a lot of timing and synchronization issues throughout the song. The vocals weren't that spectacular with having limited vocal range. Other than that, there wasn't anything else really bad about the song. It did tell a story, which was good. Overall though it was pretty boring.

Very nice mix processing on both the vocals and the guitars. Everything from the sparse bass line to the vocal harmonies to the moving backing strings add to the unique character this song endows.

This is so nice! Yes to the Peter Gabriel + Andy Summers comps. It does sound kinda "euro" or "anglophile". The guitar FX work perfectly. Very well constructed, great lyrics, just great all around. One thing about the vocals, I'm wearing headphones right now and the vocal is kinda bass-y so maybe applying a little highpass filter would allow you to separate the vocal from the rest of the song and bring the volume up a little bit. That's all I can think of as far as critique, except to please keep the music coming. Way to represent!

First of all, I want to thank all of you that contributed in the production of this song. I have remixed it in X2 using some of the new features. I replaced Perfect Space with Breverb on the lead vox and added the console emulation in Pro Channel to a few stereo busses. I also used the new set of strings for Dim Pro that came with X2. I look forward to your impressions. Thanks again for your time. This version is called "Lucky Star 2.0" It can be found here and in post #1: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11914967&q=hi&newref=1

Cool song, likes it a lot , great arranging and playing. Funny I have a feeling our systems have different perspectives on the low end, I found it a bit overwhelming and had to turn it down. I had just listened to a bunch of songs on the forum here, and yours was WAY loud in the low end. Not complaining but just thought I'd mention that as you thought my song needed more low end. :) If your playback system is weak in the low end then that explains it. My home stereo , which I listen on, is a bass heavy system typical of most. So I find if the bass is overwhelming when played on it, then I need to apply a little hi pass to the mix. This is usually between 65- 95 Hz. My Monitors are Yamaha NSM 10 which are well known to lack low end. I have gotten used to the way they should sound and am never far off the mark with mixes. The other possibility is you have applied a massive dose of Boost 11 :}

Johnny, thanks for your reply. I wondered about the volume of the bass guitar because I turned it up a little. This is something that I will listen more closely to in the next several hours. BTW, I used Alesis Monitor Ones which are very close to the Yamahas in frequency response. I will recheck the mix in my car stereo which normally exposes too much low end. Mark, thanks so much for your time and kind words. Steve, thank you for your time and words. That bigness may be too much bass as noted above, but I will be listening on a few more sets of speakers today. I want it to be big, but not overwhelming.
