Hi there,

Occasionally with projects that are using a lot of RAM ... like 5 instances of Kontakt with 16 tracks each and one instance of Omnisphere I get some display ghosting when attempting to change screens on some Instruments ( Damage mainly )
and some display ghosting in track view with track divider lines.
My video card is an ATI AIW X800XL 256 MB ( https://www.cnet.com/products/ati-all-in-wonder-x800-xl-256mb-pci/review/ )
which is not a great card but I'd think it'd be able to handle Sonar and vsti etc.
Reloading the project takes care of the track view problems for a while but they eventually return.
Damage by Heavoicity - poking at it in different ways can clear it up but there's no guarantee.

So ... Is there a fix for this by twiddling some settings or do you think I just need to
buy a stronger video card?

I've had this exact issue going on for many months. Posted a question about it, but didn't seem like an issue many others were experiencing.
Replaced graphics card, fresh OS and SONAR install, Win10 upgrade.... didn't get rid of it either.
 
For what it's worth, I've traced my ghost lines to this scenario:
Track View/ All Track Visible ( Folders as well as individual tracks)
Pull focus to a single track or group of tracks, lines appear that are graphic remnants of how the clips and folders were represented in the prior view. I've repeated this on several projects and the ghost lines are definitely connected to the visual representation of the previous view. The layout and shapes match up. ( I'll post pics if needed).
You might test this out to see if that's your situation as well.
 
If so, maybe there's a common MB, ram or graphics card in our systems that don't play well with SONAR's GUI implementation. 
 
BTW, I've seen no correlation with project size or demand but will look into that.

Yes. I'd describe the scenario the same way for track view. That's exactly how it works here, but only on heavy ram usage projects. Never on lighter ones which would be 3 or less full instances of contact.
My motherboard is an ASUS P8P67 so we can that common factor out. 16GB or RipJaws DDR3.

What was your old grahics card and what is the new one?
Possibly both ATI?

Current graphics card is a GeForce GT730, did a test of a duplicate of that same card ( issue persisted) and prior was the onboard Intel graphics. I switched to graphics card thinking it might solve the issue. 
Win7/Win10, no change.

have you guys considered using onboard graphics Vs. using a card ?
if your pc has a good processor and your not using the same PC to play "Call of duty" or "World of Warcraft",
I don't see the reason to use a video card.
 
I pulled out my G Force 510 and have been using my onboard graphics for almost a year now and my problems were solved. It was also one less thing to worry about. I did it as a test to narrow down some problems I was having and came to the realization, it was one of my problems.
 
if you have a CPU that is not up to par, low RAM maybe..then I can understand the need for a GC.
but if you have an Intel I7 with onboard Dual DVI slots, give it a shot. just make sure to update the onboard card.
This is of course only my opinion, but just thought I would try and give my thoughts. you also might want to check for the very latest version of your Graphics card (look for an update).

Interesting how that worked for you, but my Motherboard doesn't have an integrated graphics system.

After reading through your original thread one difference that comes to mind is that closing splat and re opening it
cures the problem for a while.
I should also check and see if the problem is present in X3 and will do that asap.
 

Agreed. We may have two very different problems just manifesting in similar looking behaviors.
 
Chuckebaby: problem originated when I used my onboard graphics. I bought the GForce card just to troubleshoot.
Disabled onboard graphics in bios, and once the GForce was loaded ( and updated) the overall performance seemed a bit better with the card...so I never looked back.
 
Will keep searching. It is a very distracting visual mess when doing a lot of clip based editing and envelope work. Even worse..when a client stands next to you and says "what are all those weird lines on the screen?"
