I had PCR-800 working under WIN 10; but it took a trip to the cross roads. Now since Win 10 has upgraded to Redstone (I think that is what it is called) it no longer works.

The workaround for this situation is to switch the Advanced Driver
off in the PCR-800.
pg.78 of the manual -
If you aren’t powering the keyboard via USB you will need a Roland PSB-240A (Australia). We cannot recommend using anything other than the Roland power supply as it can break the unit.
The PSB-240A is a sales item and is able to be purchased from any Roland dealer.
It is 9V 2.0A. I would have been better off money wise by buying a behringer keyboard with just the basic features - the same as I have now.
After looking through 2 boxes of Roland and Boss wall warts I found one close enough to spec so I could power the keyboard long enough to set it to just a straight keyboard - no bells and whistles. Once done you switch of the power and plug the USB lead in for power and basic communication.
I can't help thinking that Roland owned Cakewalk and cake extolled its virtues of the compatibility and correct boot up for sonar by the PCR series. Then cake were bought out - no life long relationship there - however, I think it is a matter of trust and morality that cake should back up all their hype about the PCR keyboards when they were released and do something about the driver. I know they have changed hands and it is no longer Cakewalk by Roland and windows has changed; but if they want us to buy into lifetime access to core changes then now is the time to take ownership of the problem. I will never buy any hardware from cake as here we have an example and no doubt to follow a large number of reasons why they shouldn't do anything, it was windows that broke the system etc - after all a cake product at the time is clearly now not considered so. How quickly hype disappears and you are left with what some might call a core feature - a keyboard to talk to software. "Hello integrity, shut the door on your way out".
