  • [Work Around For Now] PRV Not Remembering To Remain Full Screen (p.3)

 You dont have to close it at all. I always keep it minimized. After double clicking on the desired midi clip just press D.

^^ This is what you want, even docked in the multidock. After initially maximizing (Shift-D), then just use D to maximize/minimize. If you ever close that window is where SONAR forgets you had maximized it. Closing is your ultimate enemy here.

I will look at the concept and see how/f it works for me. I always feel uncomfortable with things left hanging around my main screen... I continuously and somewhat randomly switch between main widow needs and various midi clips/tracks...

So far, the work model where I simply dbl-click on a desired clip/location and replace the main screen with the PRV (back and forth) has been a very intuitive and comfortable wa for me to work... I have done this ver since Cakewalk made the change from sequencer to DAW... I don't relish changing that after so many decades, but of course I will if I have to (?)...

Does anyone know if MDI mode has been lost due to OS changes (moved from win7 to win8.1 is where this got lost) or Sonar changes? Or maybe it's still here but available through some other method than previous?

For now I've got my main screenset so that dbl-clicking on a midi clip opens a large floating PRV window and that will have to do... For now...

This is very sad if it is the case. I am progressively having more issues with Sonar related display issues... My long posted discomfort with Lane zoom min/max and this new issue continue to plague my every day of work. If we never had these things I wouldn't know how much better things could be (for me) and simply dream of having... But after already having and now losing these comforts... It feels "bad"

Thanks for all your kind and helpful ideas!

Keni,
  Multi Document Interface (MDI) mode works fine for me in Win 7 x64, so if you can't get MDI to work it must be the OS change that is preventing it.
I used the instructions posted by @Brundlefly here:  http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3443287.

Below is an example of Sonar 2016.06 in MDI mod.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Ron...

I originally did what brundlefly posted long before I posted the original message...

It seems that it never becomes mdi mode and instead simply leaves it as a floating window.

If I max it, I could live with that but I can't get Sonar to default to that with the original dll for PRV. The closest I can come is a large floating window. If I max it and close it, the next call is back to the large floating window.

A current thought given by a few other helpful users here in this thread is to leave that window minimized instead of closed. I'm not thrilled at leaving it that way, but I will investigate this later today... I'm mostly wondering how this will respond when calling different clips/tracks... I will not be able to work with it opening separate instances for each PRV call...

The other good idea is to use autohotkey (macro/scripting util) which I have long been interested in anyway...

Thanks!

Thanks rogeriodec...

I've often wished for a macro recorder built into Sonar... I will look into this regardless of its application here.

I looked at your post but the script you created is only partially visible. Can I get a full copy?

Ok...

Just as an update.

Until I find another way I'm forced to use the multidock and d commands which is a drag, but nothing else seems to come close enough...

So once again my streamlined (1 click) work model has been replaced with 2-3 clicks interspersed with some 1 click occurrences...

3 steps forward, one step back?

I'll mark the thread... SomethIng...

For me the script is appearing completely visible (at least using the Chrome browser). Anyway, here's the complete script (without the "code" tags to avoid formatting in this post):
-----------------------

SetTitleMatchMode RegEx
#IfWinActive, ahk_exe i)SONAR.*exe
~LButton::
If (A_TimeSincePriorHotkey<400) and (A_TimeSincePriorHotkey<>-1)
Gosub maxprv
Return
~!3::
maxprv:
sleep 200
WinGetTitle, Title, A
IfInString Title, Piano Roll
Send #{Up}
Return
#IfWinActive

-----------------------

If you have any difficulty to install and run a first script, just follow the first steps in this tutorial:
