Hey, that has sure fixed the theme to an extent, but could you perhaps do something like this?

Please note the track highlighting based on track colours as well as the overall desaturation and gamma correction. The current oversaturated, overcontrasted theme does not help the eyes to rest at all, especially in the night when the the environment lighting is also dimmed. Compare the current Tungsten and my suggestion in Photoshop CC with its standard colours, and you'll see how yours stands out. And these guys know a little more about making it comfortable to work with images, I believe.

Those colored borders in the console view look perfect! Cakewalk, take note. :)

Cakewalk... please listen to your people!!!! we need this...(I  thank you in advance... )

Or perhaps just make it an option so that those of us who prefer NOT to have the border would still be happy.

For sure options are best, and hopefully when the theme editor is ready for prime time we will have more of them. Personally I would prefer the dark-colour strips in the mockup in the first post here:

honestly, what's the problem of keeping the track "background" colours as they are in Mercury theme, just more darkish? without clearly distinctive tracks it's really unpleasant to work with

You mean like this?

That's what I mentioned two posts back. From the FR request thread here:

Feel free to go and vote for it, or otherwise add your 2 cents...

+1 on having either the darkish colors and/or the colored borders. In either of these variations,
a slider to increase or decrease the intensity and/or brightness, would cover a lot of users personal
preferences. One could have it darker or lighter as you like it.

This would get me to start using Tungsten!

The main beef I have with this theme is when I'm editing several vocals and have them in view. If I select one of them I can't really see the waveform very well, like I can with Mercury these. The clip gets washed out and almost blurry. There's no definition. So I've gotten where when I need to do this I switch back to Mercury. Will this be fixed? Do I need to report it?
