Hi!
A post to mention something strange which is happening since a short while ,but I am not able to deliver really accurate informations.
When I insert a Vst3 plug-in in a bus within a project I get an instant crash.
So as far as there have been quite a lot of updates recently on my system( i.e Win 10 2011 update and last sonar Platinium ) I did try some roll-back but no improvements.
The strange thing is that if I insert a Vst 2 plug-in first then a Vst 3 everything is working fine.
My system is quite old: Dell precision T1600 ,16 g ram,Echo layla 3G with Win8 drivers, but I don't know If the issue lies here because everything worked quite fine until now and even now after inserting a Vst 2 prior to a Vst3 plug-in( but sometime I forget the process.)
I had some suspicion towards certain brands but the crash occurs with whatever Vst3 plug-in I insert even with Cakewalk Ca2A which is one of the most reliable one I could think about.
Thanks for clues and sorry for being somewhat unclear.
All the best.
Olivier

Maybe try a reset and rescan of VSTs....

Thank you,
I tried your suggestion but the problem is somewhere else.
It looks as if it was related to this specific project which might be corrupted.
Anyway I will carry on investigating and if I discover something relevant I will let it know here.

If you post a link or PM me a minidump of the crash It may shed some light on the nature of the issue.

Hi Noel ,
Thank you fot answering,
I have sent a minidump in the problem reporter.
I recently installed RX5 and it might be related at some point because if I insert one of the plug-in of Izotope (VST3) things are going OK and then I can insert other Plugs and everything is fine.
If I insert first another Plug-in I get the instant crash.

Can you list the CWBRN number? Thats the only way I have to reference it.

Hi Noel,
Sorry for being slow. It is a matter of local time zone..
CWBRN-52770.
Thank you.
The more I look at it the more I think it is a conflict between RX5 and the Layla 3G .
It seems to go better when I enable Wdkm drivers in Sonar instead of Asio.
All the best.

Hi Olivier,

Thanks got your report - we will investigate it. The crash stack indicates a memory overwrite when starting playback.
I don't think that its related to your audio interface but its likely related to one of the synths in your project.

Can you list the synths you have or send us the project file? You can attach it to the CWBRN.

The crash stack indicates a memory overwrite when starting playback.

Sorry for probably off-topic, but since you mention memory corruption when starting playback:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3430999
In short words, that is an example of corrupted project file (stay corrupted even after removing everything from it) which trigger Sonar crash on playback once 2 arbitrary synths are added.
