Must say installing cake stuff has always been historically a worrying time for me with problems with serial numbers and so forth. For this reason alone I've been putting of updating my laptop (still running X3e) even though I've been keeping my studio tower up to date all along, and Iv'e been around since Pro-Audio 6 days.

Well what a breeze! Like I've never experienced a smother update in all my life. Loaded Command Centre then just went for it loading all I need on my laptop for live work. Now I'm sitting here thinking “How Easy Was That”

So here is a big thanks to all involved in this huge improvement

Yes,I can confirm this.
Yesterday I installed Splat via CCC on a new notebook.
Downloading , registering aso very fast in one step.......
That is the easiest concept  doing that compared to other companies
Kudos,bakers.

I agree, updating couldn't be easier! And the tutorial vids you can watch during the update are quite helpful. One thing I don't understand, though, is that when I click "Update All", when it's finished, there's still a "Update" button. To be on the safe side, I clicked both, but shouldn't it be enough to just click "Update All"? Other than that, it's a breeze.

I agree as well.  Using CCC make everything easier.

Toontrack have just started using a similar "Product Manger", and last night it also made updating my MANY Toontrack products (and installing a new one) "a breeze".

It reminded me how much I appreciate the CCC.

The rollback feature is also excellent, not that I have needed to use it much.

I take it for granted these days. Its good to be reminded how simple things are using it.

Disagree.  X3e was a breeze, SPLAT took most of my day.

I really like the CCC too.  I was hesitant to use it at first because I wanted to avoid having it installing files on my C drive.  However, I set up symlinks prior to running CCC and that worked, keeping program files on a separate SSD.

Note that Native Instruments' installers often wreck symlinks (although I found a workaround for that).  It's nice that CCC obeys them.

Why was that Brian?

it really shouldn't take that long, unless you're on a dialup.

It's always been smooth and fast and trouble-free for me, on 2 different (both older) machines. I have quite fast internet here, so that is expected, but the software has not been a bottleneck. I would like to see it get pause and resume functionality, for sure, and I'd like 'Update All' to actually update all (as opposed to only updating all the sub-category items available for update, but *not* Sonar itself, which is what it's always done here) - but other than that I haven't had an issue with it, and I much prefer it as a way of managing CW software.

Having said that, I wonder if someone will ever find a way to unify all the 'software center' type things we end up with? I have at least 6 now - Cakewalk, Native Instruments, Arturia and IK Multimedia, Waves, Addictive... Probably a few others I can't think of as well. A master updater that could run all the others as slaves and check them for updates would be a handy thing.

X3 producer was installed on the same computer.  I actually download all the files on a computer with a fast internet connection, transfered those files and put them in the proper folder for CCC to use them.

C:/Program Data/Cakewalk/Command centre/Downloads

However, it would try to install, get to the very last portion, throw an error...say not successful and roll back the install process.  A search on the forum indicated that it was related to a Windows update that was needed for it to work.

I think it was this one:
DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code Ox3

http://forum.cakewalk.com/Solved-SONAR-201603-Install-Fail-m3393632.aspx

Installs would stall multiple times which I'd have to stop and start over, then get the error at the end of the install that looked like it would work.  Literally hours and hours worth of work and attempts.

Remember this is on a computers that X3 installed without any issue at all.  After manually uninstalling the Visuall C++ stuff a few times and re-installing.  I got it to work on a couple of my computers.  One did not install using CCC.  And I have another computer that I still can't get it to work on.

(so I'm not even factoring in the download time)
