Found 2 bug fixes so far - render bit rate change now works as advertised, and a docked piano roll note/controller alignment bug gone as well.

One bug that is not yet fixed (or at least I saw it happen again last night) is the timeline in docked PRV does not always line up with the events in the PRV until you scroll the PRV.  I was hoping that would get fixed as part of the controller/note alignment problem.

I haven't seen that problem in the new version yet Jim. Have you found a consistent way to reproduce it?

This works every time:

1. Create a MIDI track and on a measure other than the first (let's use the 2nd measure) add some MIDI notes.
2. In one screenset, dock the PRV and have the PRV display the MIDI track from step 1.
3. Go to another screenset that has the track view in it and set the now time in the time ruler to be the measure where you added the MIDI notes in step 1.
4. Go back to the screenset you used in step 2.

What I see every time is the vertical line for the start/now/current time in the PRV is all the way to the left.  The ruler at the top of the PRV shows that measure 2 is the measure all the way to the left.  That part is fine.  However, my MIDI notes are on measure 3...they are not lined up with the current time.  Once I start clicking on the right scroll arrow at the bottom of the PRV, the now time and ruler start moving to the right and eventually line up with and stay synched with the MIDI notes.

This bug has been there for a while.  It was talked about once or twice on the forums.  I'll submit a bug report (hey, aren't we supposed to be getting a new feedback portal? :) )

Got it. You are absolutely right Jim. It turns out we are talking about the same bug and it is not fixed - I have just stumbled upon a work around for the velocity/note allignment issue and presumed it had been fixed! If you already have PRV open in the dock displaying another track, then use a keyboard shortcut do display a different track in PRV, the window refreshes correctly and all notes/velocities are in their correct place on the timeline and in allignment.  If PRV is not currently displayed and you open a track using the PRV shortcut, the PRV window that opens in the dock still has the notes/veloicities out of allignment (velocities are correct on the timeline, notes are not) until you touch the scroll slider. So the workaround is to leave a PRV tab open in the multidock, then whenever you open tracks they will display correctly.

I guess switching between screenshots involves opening new PRV windows, hence the timeline/allignment issue shows up.

I reported this problem a while back and it has a number. Given that it's a small annoyance it could be a while I guess:(

Thanks Jim - I will edit my initial post to reflect our new discoveries:)

I will need a minidump and link to project file bundle to follow up on this.

It should also be in the SONAR rollback menu in the Command Center.

For some reason, I can't find a rollback menu in CC.

Thanks Craig, it looks like I need to do some homework and explore Melodyne upgrades. 90% of the stuff I record is with people that can't, or won't use a click.

In case I wasn't clear...drag and drop conform to tempo does work with Melodyne Essential, both version 2 and 4. It's just that Editor and Studio offer more options.

As it relates to Editor 2 + Editor 4 and this new conform to tempo feature, are there any real advantages to 4 vs 2?

Is the early access edition supposed to run in "demo mode"?

mine isn't but I have had previous versions where this was an intermittent problem. Sometimes just quitting and restarting was enough to sort it out.

This updated SOnar is the quickest and snappiest one yet! I like how the analytics has been deployed too-- easy to change your options-- even to opt out if you so wish. I am going with the default currently.

When I restarted my computer (I caught a movie ), the problem with demo mode was gone. Thanks for your comment.

I'm liking what I see as well. It does seem snappier. And I'm using the default as well until I see a reason to change them.

Does the new Melodyne related feature work with the version supplied with Sonar or do I have to buy an upgrade? It's not clear in the ezine and this is a feature I would like to explore.

As the eZine says: "Although this feature reaches its full potential with Melodyne Editor and Studio, it’s still extremely effective with Melodyne Essential 2 and 4." Later on it mentions that only Editor and Studio include a tempo detection option to modify the tempo, but I've done the drag 'n' drop thing with Melodyne 2 and 4 and it works well.

Where can the eZine be found for next release? yea I know... But today I'm medicated today. :)
