No you're not alone. It feels like some fighter pilots may have some time off as all we got this month was a new way to add a track which rookies can do, where in the previous month "Oh boy Melodyne 4 is here!" from the marketing brass. Or, they're hunkered down playing Melodyne 4 catch-up and our cries for deliverance are heard after all. There is no doubt that something is amiss with Melo4.

Personally I believe this could be a Melodyne issue - IIRC they issued a corrective update right after v4 was launched.
I would recommend downloading your personalised installation file from Celemony. Fully un-install your faulty module then install the file you downloaded from Celemony.
This is what i did and ihave not yet had a crash ....... Yet 😇😜

I finally got the Melodyne Trial activated on my machine, and although I have not tested it too deeply as of yet, I have not gotten it to crash either (Melodyne 4.0.2.003 on SONAR Manchester). Just FYI, there is a 4.0.2.003 version of Melodyne out, so is worth updating Melodyne if on a previous version (I noticed the error log above showed an earlier version).

I'm in Jerry's boat with this one - not a single Melodyne crash yet, and I've probably instantiated it > 30 times so far. Knock on wood (or the top of my head). I'd imagine there's some other factor involved other than just Melodyne and SPlat, but what, I do not know... I can say though that I always bounce down my MD edits when I'm done. Could be related.

Are we in MeloCrash land to understand that you too were one of us before you updated? And either way, can you tell us all down here in the pit what version you updated to? Thank you.

+1, I was just playing with the trial, and there is a 4.0.4.001 build available. Definitely keep up with checking on updates as the version is new. I had the trial installation hiccup, and that error took two patches to rectify, so I am 6 weeks behind the power curve here.

I can't get Melodyne to install properly or uninstall properly. I tried loading it as a plugin on a track and had to go through the entire download and activation process. Activation failed every time with a server error saying the client wouldn't accept the license. I tried fixing the install, but the install program doesn't see anything wrong. So of course I tried uninstalling so I could start from scratch and Melodyne won't uninstall. It stays in my "Programs and Features" list. I tried deleting all the Melodyne directories, but there must be registry and other stuff I cannot find. So Melodyne is completely unusable right now. Anyone have any tips for me so I can get this plug working? Thanks. UPDATE - I deleted all Windows 10 registry entries and all Melodyne directories and reinstalled. NOw the Cakewalk Plugin Manager says the plugin is not installed correctly. I wrote Celemony a help request email. Sigh.

The email request to Celemony is the best route to go. It may take a couple or three days to hear back until you get on their "squeaky wheel" radar. My personal issue was my activation went through, but my computer crashed so the demo (client) never went active. Although Celemony initially said they had no record of an activation, the email reminders of "demo time running out" made me reopen this. Until the 4.0.2.003 update the activation page (online) actually removed the demo entry for this situation; but suddenly it was view able again and gave a popup of "already activated." The solution was they simply needed to reset my entry in their server. What made me most irate is that it is my understanding that an internet connection is required to use Melodyne 4 (sans ILok) anyway. I am always connected, only on one machine, yet their "phone home" feature doesn't check the client side's functionality - only that their server has your computer ID on file. Perhaps my standards are based on the higher end gaming community... During a program start they patch/repair the client when necessary in addition to the "server handshake." I am not sure I have come across anything DAW-related yet that pops up "Hey, your installation is FUBAR, want us to fix it for you?" In my particular case it could have been as simple as "Oh, your computer shows the demo active... here let me activate that for you." Perhaps too simple of a concept... but I happen to like simple.

I just want to add my 2 cents. Yesterday I edited around 7-10 small clips with melodyne, And then it started crashing Sonar every time I tried to open a clip in Melodyne. I also made the mistake of upgrading to version 4. Can we go back to an earlier version? If yes how? And I also wonder if people are complaining to Celemony? I certainly intend to put a bug report in. It's so frustrating! I'm so close to finishing up my CD!

I asked about earlier versions and Celemony confirmed that the upgrade 1) requires relinquishing a previous version and 2) an internet connection (or iLok) is required. The only recourse you would have is to contact them directly. I have not experienced the SONAR crash with the trial (yet) but not used it extensively either. Although not elegant, an option for you is to try Melodyne in stand-alone mode.

In my workflow, I create a clone of whatever track I want to perform "surgery" on (e.g., gain leveling, reversing, MD edits, etc.). I can then archive the original. I always have that as a fallback if I find later that I have an artifact from the edit(s) I made. Sometimes I'll see these artifacts more once I've compressed, EQ or saturated the track or in the context of a more final mix.. I then have the option of going back and starting over with the original track. (Warren Huart made a similar recommendation in one of Produce Like a Pro Academy videos ( https://www.producelikeapro.com/). So I'm in good company LOL.)

I can confirm some crashing with Melodyne 4 Studio. Especially if you clone an audio track with an instance of Melodyne in it. I've also had some frightening distortion type issues at the beginning of an audio track with Melodyne. I've seen the level meters go to +84! It's a very LOUD click! Didn't think anything could go past zero but it's happened. So, yes there are some stability issues it seems with Melodyne 4. But what's bummed me out is these guys didn't pay attention to improving the audio quality of polyphonic processing. It still sounds "phase-shifty" on most things. Also the splitting of clips... mother of gawd... software should be smart but... I don't know if I'll ever use the sound designer and... I'm OT now....

I consistently experience the crash described in this thread. On my current project, Sonar crashes whenever I create a new Region FX with Melodyne 4.00.0401. I'm running Windows 10 with 64 bit plugins end to end. I've been in touch with Celemony and sent them a minidump file on 3/24/2016, but no response yet. (A few days before, they promptly responded to a license problem I had. Turned out to be user error trying to fall back to Essentials 2.) I never had a problem with Melodyne Essentials 2. I upgraded to 4, then used the temporary demo license for Editor, then fell back to Essentials. I didn't use the system for several weeks after that, and when I resumed, the crashes started. Existing Melodyne Region FX work fine, and I can open and edit them--I just can't create a new region. Oh, and to add insult to injury, somewhere along the line, all my edits to Melodyne regions were lost. The regions still existed, but all pitch and time corrections vanished, and I had to reapply them.

Ok: Updated to Melo 4.04 and March early access version. On the offending lead vocal track in a big "done" project with a few splits here and there, creating a melodyne region crashes Sonar after initializing region. No matter where in the lead vocal track I make a region. If I bounce the lead vocal track to a single clip then I can again create regions without crashing. I copied the lead vocal track edits and all to a new file with the intent of sending it to support, but here, even though the splits and edits are there, Sonar can now create the melodyne region without crashing so I don't know what to think. I am on 32 bit Windows / Sonar so memory is an issue but many of you in this thread are on 64bit with all your process space have had this issue presumably since melo 4. I can tell you that I don't remember this being an issue with melo 2.
