Do a search on video - Returns nothing. do a search on just about anything - returns nothing.

Hate to say it guys, but I do not have day to read every single item. What I do get from reading is that I am not the only one that feels that this product is WAY less functional then advertised. I will not be renewing my subscription that is for sure. Sorry to say that I guess for PC based audio tasks, I will use Ableton. At least it is stable and when you go looking for some support, you can find it.

So you're going to dump Sonar because the forum search function is lame? Perhaps I misunderstood your post, but that's how it sounds to me. Have you tried the help docs or google? Or perhaps even consider asking a question yourself? There's lots of people here who are happy to assist you in becoming proficient with Sonar.

Google:

site:forum.cakewalk.com video

28,200 returns

...that should keep you busy for a while. You might want to make the search terms more specific.

This forum states that its mission is: "Discussion focused on the use of SONAR Producer, Studio, Essential and Base." That is not the same thing as support. Granted, people are sometimes spoiled because there is a ton of peer-to-peer support, so they think that's what this forum is about. But its goal is to help people get the most out of SONAR, hence people are encouraged to ask questions so that others may contribute answers.

If you want to search the forums, use the technique I described above. If you need support, contact Cakewalk. Free support is part of your membership. If you don't avail yourself of it, it's not fair to say there's no support. So far you've posted one question, which was answered, and one complaint which is only valid because you don't know how to use search engines, and the people here are more than glad to help. Nor have you mentioned any issues you've experienced, aside from one thread about wanting to be able to mark off a section of an extremely lengthy live recording and save out just that aspect, which you can indeed do in several ways. For example another option is to isolate the clips you want to save, then drag and drop into a folder via the browser.

What I do get from reading is that I am not the only one that feels that this product is WAY less functional then advertised.

Functionality should be judged on whether a product fulfills one's particular needs, not from taking forum posts at face value which may or may not be relevant to what you do. Finally, if you find an Ableton Live forum, let me know. I presume that like Propellerheads, they gave up on having a forum that's open to all because of people who contribute nothing, and therefore drag down the experience of those people who use a forum for its intended and stated purpose.

Just a quick note for those who find the Cakewalk Search to be less than ideal.

The best way to search the Forum seems to be to use Google and include the following  modifier  "site:http://forum.cakewalk.com" (remove quotes)  along with your search term.  It may also be that the item you are looking for is at https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/ which can also be searched using Google.

Cheers.

It's something that's hardly unique to this forum. Disfunctional search engines are commonplace on the web. Why pick on this one?

True because frankly, Google does a much better job than the search function that's built into most forum software. At Harmony Central we're just going to skin Google search as Harmony Central's search, pay Google their ransom, and be done with it.

Mr Crowley
I found the search to be a little lacking to say the least myself, just mentioned it in another post, done a lot of manual scrolling and searching to find what I could, wish I had read the google thing above before, I am all scrolled and searched out now :(
